Is There a Better Way to Give Back to Your Alma Mater? This week, I had the privilege of participating in the Alumni Panel Discussion for the MHR Welcome Day—an opportunity to connect with future HR professionals and give back to my alma mater. Although I couldn't attend in person, sharing insights and experiences virtually was no less rewarding. We explored the skills gained during the program that shaped our HR careers, the opportunities students should seize during their two years in the MHR program, and much more. One key takeaway we all agreed on: enjoy the journey and have fun throughout the process! A heartfelt thank you to emanuela shaba and Rachele Contiero for the invitation—it was an honor to share the stage with Professor Luca Solari, my former classmates Isabelle Giacometti and Lorenzo Cortesi, and other inspiring panelists. Looking forward to more opportunities to contribute and stay connected with the MHR community! #AlumniNetwork #GivingBack #HRProfessionals #LeadershipDevelopment #CareerGrowth #MHRProgram #PanelDiscussion #FutureLeaders #ProfessionalDevelopment #AlumniEngagement

And that's a wrap until Friday or almost! Beyond the endless networking and learning opportunities that come with being a CIPD student, attending events like this year’s Annual Conference is vital in my role as an advisor. It's an opportunity to gain fresh insights, enhance my skills, and bring back new perspectives that directly benefit our business. These events allow me to connect with industry peers, learn from thought leaders, and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in HR. From this I can then explore innovative approaches that help drive our business forward. #HR #PeopleandDevelopment #cipdACE #HRAdvisor

🎓 Reflecting on a Meaningful Experience 🌟 Yesterday, I had the honor of being invited as a guest speaker at Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Human Resources Management programme orientation. As a proud graduate of the same program, it was an incredible pleasure to share my insights and experiences with the current students. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the next generation of HR professionals. Being able to give back to the program that molded and prepared me for my own journey in the field is truly humbling. Sharing my personal journey, successes, and challenges with the passionate students reminded me of how far I've come since my own time at this institution. It also reinforced the value of continuous learning and the importance of fostering a supportive network. I believe that the foundation we receive as students is only the beginning. It is through real-life experiences and interactions that we truly understand the dynamic world of HR. My hope is that my words sparked inspiration and provided valuable insights to those embarking on their own HR careers. To the students, remember that knowledge is a powerful tool, but it is the passion, dedication, and adaptability that will set you apart. Embrace every opportunity, build strong relationships, and never stop learning. I am grateful for the chance to contribute and remain committed to the growth of the HR community. Together, let's shape the future of HR and make a positive impact in the organizations we serve. #HR #HumanResources #HKBU #Alumni #Collaboration #Inspiration #ContinualLearning

Hello connections! Today was Day 8 of the Catalyst-50 Day Orientation Program at I Business Institute It was fascinating to comprehend the top industry leaders' thought processes and gain knowledge from their vast years of expertise in the corporate sector. Ayushi kanojia clarified the widespread misunderstandings regarding corporate life and provided us with an accurate outlook on what to anticipate. We discovered that in order to succeed in corporate life, professionalism, timeliness, and a burning desire to learn something new every day are just as vital as having professional expertise. Priyaranjan Kumar stressed the value of having a straightforward mental process, applying common sense, and seizing life's opportunities. Always hope for the best but be ready for the worst. We heard from Achint Jain about his global HR experience as well as the areas we should concentrate on during our two years of PGDM in order to succeed in the corporate sector. Apurv Sharma talked about the value of competency and soft skills in the business sector. He urged us to get involved in campus events, discover our interests, and develop our strengths. This clarity will assist us in forging our own course. Vartika Chaturvedi asked some pertinent questions from speakers as the session came to an end, and they responded with great patience and depth. These responses helped us think clearly, and we gained a thorough understanding of corporate life.

Undertake an assessment, delving into employee skill sets, strengths, and areas for potential improvement. Develop a detailed inventory that serves as a repository of information, fostering informed decision-making in the identification of potential successors. This comprehensive inventory not only helps in identifying suitable candidates for key positions but also provides insights into areas where additional training or development may be required, thereby facilitating targeted interventions to groom future leaders effectively. #julianaimam #successionplanning

💼 A journey to remember! I just completed an amazing HR course at Cape Breton University, and I can't express how impactful these last 4 months have been. The field of human resources has always fascinated me—how leaders manage people, drive organisational success, and leverage innovative technology to solve challenges. This course took that curiosity to the next level! A huge shoutout to Professor Valerie Dolhanty, M.ed, CPHR, who made every class unforgettable. Her teaching style is nothing short of brilliant—interactive, inclusive, and thought-provoking. Every class was engaging, where we would break into groups, share our views, and discuss different topics, making learning both fun and dynamic. This interactive approach not only helped deepen our understanding but also made every class something to look forward to. What made this course even more impactful was how she went above and beyond by bringing HR professionals to the class. These guest speakers provided us with a real-world perspective on HR, answering our questions and helping us understand the complexities of the HR world in a practical, meaningful way. It was an incredible opportunity to bridge theory with practice and learn directly from experienced professionals. Truly one of the best professors I’ve had the privilege to learn from. 🙌 A special thanks to Dean Norm Hubbert for bringing onboard such talented and knowledgeable professors who excel not only in their expertise but also in their ability to inspire and engage students. To my peers at CBU: if you’re exploring electives, this one is a MUST! #CapeBretonUniversity #HRInsights #LeadershipInAction #Gratitude #InteractiveLearning

If you’re considering the needs of your ageing workforce come to this session. If you aren’t considering their needs you need to. Don’t take my word for it. Look at the organisations who stuck their heads in the sand when global trends happened and tell me how the ostrich approach worked for blockbuster, HMV or Blackberry. The ageing population isn’t is ‘nice thing to think about’. It’s a commercial opportunity of the size and scale of climate change. I don’t hold back, I’ll share what we know and if I can’t back up what I say I won’t say it.

New week, new knowledge! 📚✨ Happy Monday I’m thrilled to share that I’ve earned my Talent Acquisition Certificate from HRCI! 📜 This journey has sharpened my recruitment toolkit, and I can’t wait to implement some killer strategies. For instance, in job design, we identify specific tasks to keep motivation HIGH. 💪🏽 Workload analysis is also a game-changer! It helps determine how many employees we need based on expectations, leading to a trifecta of benefits: more resources, high team morale (I’m most-cases), and helping amazing people thrive! 🚀 What’s one new thing you’ve learned recently (or older) that you’re excited to put into practice? Let’s share our stories and keep this learning vibe alive! ✨⬇️ #KnowledgeIsKey #HRLearningParty
