"Armagnac: The Secret Bargain of the Spirit World" "The world of Armagnac was well and truly disrupted earlier this year by the arrival of a brand called Hogsworth that blends bourbon whiskey with brandy from Gascony," writes Henry Jeffreys in The Guardian. But beyond the disruption, he highlights something much deeper: "The idea behind Hogsworth does point to something interesting going on in the spirits world: mature whisky, be it single malt scotch or bourbon, can be extremely valuable." And what about Armagnac? As Jeffreys observes, "At the moment, Armagnac is the biggest bargain in spirits, so get hold of some before the bourbon bros finally wake up and start snaffling it all up." But Raj Peter Bhakta, founder of BHAKTA Spirits, recognized the immense value of Armagnac long before the rest of the world caught on. By acquiring aged Armagnac and building a brand around its timeless allure, he set the stage for this Gascon treasure to step into the spotlight. Curious to know more about this underappreciated gem and why it’s being called the best deal in the spirits world? Read the full article and discover the story behind Armagnac’s quiet revolution. 🥃 #Armagnac #TheSpiritOfGascony #DiscoverTheBargain #BHAKTASpirits

Despite the dominance of multinational corporations in the Cognac and Armagnac industry, smaller family-oriented producers continue to thrive as historic names like Martell, Rémy Martin, Hennessy, and Courvoisier are rooted in family legacies spanning centuries. This article shows how many family businesses span generations, with some, like Frapin, tracing their lineage back over 20 generations. This demonstrates how successive generations can ensure continuity and innovation, balancing tradition with modernity. An interesting exploration of a niche industry where smaller family producers play a crucial role in maintaining diversity and quality. #familybusiness #familylegacy #familyhistory

Dom Perignon P2 2000 Dom Pérignon was the 17th century Benedictine monk who has gone down in history as the person who "invented" Champagne. His name was originally registered by Eugène Mercier. He sold the brand name to Moët & Chandon, which used it as the name for its prestige cuvée, which was first released in 1937. A rigorous selection process in both the vineyard and winery ensures that only the best grapes go into Dom Pérignon champagne. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are used in roughly equal proportions without one variety dominating the other. There are three plenitudes in the life of a given vintage: the first plenitude spans between seven to eight years after the vintage, which is when Dom Pérignon Vintage is released, while the second one arrives between 12 and 15 years – which was previously the first oenothèque release, but from now will be branded as P2. The third window comes after around 30 years, when the Champagne has spent more than 20 years on its lees, which will now be termed as P3.

The 2023 Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, a unique vintage of elegance and strategic pricing, has begun with promising initial releases. Notably, Léoville Las Cases and Pontet-Canet have made bold moves, reducing their prices by 40% and 27%, respectively, from last year's vintage, a significant shift that mirrors the pricing of the highly regarded 2019 vintage. This year's vintage, ranging from good to very good, is marked by elegance, precision, and freshness. With substantial production levels, pricing has emerged as a key strategic element. The shift from exclusivity-driven to value-oriented acquisitions is a significant development, reflecting not only the current economic landscape but also drawing on successful strategies from past vintages in similar market conditions. As we anticipate the rollout of the 2023 vintages' prices during this campaign, we invite wine enthusiasts and investors to register their interest and gain priority access to these exceptional offerings. This is an opportunity to engage with a vintage where quality meets remarkable value. 🍾 Register your interest and discover more here: https://hubs.li/Q02vykVk0 #BDXEP2023 #Bordeaux #EnPrimeur Cult Wines

The first step in selecting which good Italian wines to drink is reading the label…
Business Development Manager Graphic Art & Industry Print presso OKI Europe Ltd | knowledge: High and Light Production Small Format | Wide Format | Label Printing Market
Saturday, May 4th, OKI took center stage at the "Giornata del Vignaiolo" (Winemaker's Day), an opportunity organized for OKI by our colleague Massimo Zoratti. The event took place at the regional wine bar in Offida, in the former convent of San Francesco. Both Massimo and I had the opportunity to meet with the most important Marche wine producers, who were able to evaluate and experience OKI TECHNOLOGY firsthand. An incredible turnout: nearly 1000 visitors! The reason we wanted to give our post a European slant came after the statement by Massimo Palmieri, FIVI Marche (Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti) delegate: "In the future, the event will also be held nationally and in Europe, as a valuable moment of reflection on the figure of the winemaker..." I would say long live Italian excellence!! A special thanks to Massimo Palmieri for giving us the opportunity to be one of the sponsors of this important event and above all for being able to interview Letizia Cossignani, Vice Delegate of the FIVI Marche association. A very interesting interview that we will share in the next post. 🍷✨ #OKIEurope #OKIPro1050 #TonerBianco #StampantiOKI #StampaEtichette #Premium #StampaOnDemand #Personalizzazione #Vino ##FIVIMarche #Vignaioliindipendenti

Our latest offer is the 2020 I Sodi di San Niccolo from Domini Castellare di Castellina, described by Antonio Galloni as ‘magical. This is remarkable in every day’, awarding it 97+ points. This particular wine caught our attention back in the 2013 vintage; we predicted great things for the estate. The 2016 seemed to confirm our initial belief, and now we have accessed a well-priced parcel of the 2020. Atlas’ MD Simon Larkin MW once commented that it was ‘heartening to still be able to pick up a lesser-known wine of similar calibre at a fraction of the price (of leading Tuscan Sangiovese)...but for how long will this be the case?’. A few years later, the same comment applies; it still ranks as a remarkably fairly priced Sangiovese, when judged against Pergole Torte, Flaccianello et al. The blend is 85% Sangioveto (a synonym for Sangiovese) and 15% Malvasia Nera and it makes for a head-turning wine, showing all the ripeness you might expect in a strong Tuscan vintage, but none of the austerity that can typify young Sangiovese.
