Great news on the horizon for the massage therapy community! The recently introduced Interstate Massage Compact is poised to dramatically simplify the process for licensed massage therapists (LMTs) to work across state lines. For traveling professionals—including those providing on-site massage services at casinos and resorts—this means easier, more efficient mobility without navigating a maze of separate state licensing requirements. Imagine the freedom this brings to casino massage therapists who frequently move from one state to another for special events, World Series of Poker tournaments, or seasonal opportunities. By streamlining credential verification and setting uniform standards, the Interstate Massage Compact fosters a more accessible, consistent, and growth-oriented environment for both practitioners and clients. While there’s still work ahead as more states sign on, this is a huge stride forward in modernizing the massage therapy landscape. Let’s celebrate this milestone and look ahead to a future where the focus remains where it should be—on delivering outstanding care and exceptional client experiences, no matter where your journey takes you! #MassageTherapists #MassageTherapy #Massage

This past week, FSMTB's Director of Education and Professional Mobility Patty Glenn attended The Council of State Governments (CSG) National Conference. At the conference, Patty connected with legislators from across the country to discuss massage therapy regulation and related issues. She also participated in sessions addressing the challenges and needs of state governments, including a full day dedicated to exploring the critical role of interstate compacts in improving regulation, licensure, and mobility. This photo from the CSG National Conference shows some of the passionate and hardworking leaders who are leading the effort to improve occupational licensure through compacts. Military families, states, and our national workforce benefit from the effective licensure processes that compacts create. Learn more about the Interstate Massage Compact at massagecompact.org.
