3 things that I’ve learned working in the cannabis industry for 3 years. 1. Never get too comfortable. Change is always lingering around the corner. Whether it’s regulatory changes, company directive, or reaction to shifts in the market… change is inevitable and it’s coming. 2. Your team is everything. There’s not a single person who can run a dispensary on their own. Motivating, rewarding, and recognizing your staff should be a number one focus from corporate leadership, down. Happy employees mean better KPIs! 3. Have fun! Have fun every way you can. Whether it’s chatting with a patient, dancing in the vault, or getting creative with your employees to solve problems. Make it fun! This is the only industry where we can change lives in such a positive way; the only industry where individuality is celebrated and embraced! These past 3 years have taught me more about business and how to lead than what I’ve learned in my pre-cannabis career. I’m thankful for everyone I’ve met and even more thankful for all the opportunities that have come my way. Here’s to the next 3 years! There’s more work to do!

Running a business can sometimes feel like a lonely journey. You’re at the helm, making big decisions, and often, it feels like you’re doing it all by yourself. But I’ve found something that’s changed the game for me. I really liked the concept of BOD Board of Directors, which Akshar Sir has created in the mentoring and it's like having a super team by your side. This board isn’t just any group—it’s made up of leaders from 12 different industries. Whenever we have BOD meetings, we challenge each other with difficult questions, so that we arrive at the right decisions rather than taking a wrong decision. This helps us in paving our way to growth. We share ideas, challenge each other's thinking, and tackle tough questions together. It’s been a blessing. Having this diversity of thought has helped me make smarter, more informed decisions. #businessowner #entrepreneur #leadership #mentorship #growthmindset #businesstips #decisionmaking #grateful #gratitude

Celebrating the 'slow wins' I'm results focused, but I'm allergic to the phrase 'Let's get some quick wins!' "Quick wins" can all too easily mean, 'let's avoid anything too challenging' or focus on what we really need to do, or 'don't bother to work properly with others.' For me, this is very different to the most excellent notion of failing fast - and celebrating failures is really important, as we often learn more from these experiences. As we head to this Christmas holiday period, I'm reflecting on how my stellar team has avoided the "quick" and delivered meaningful, connected, collaborative (often challenging) but sustained purposeful mahi that will make a long-term difference. Celebrating the slow wins with Paula Birnie Mairi-Anne Nel and Samuel Anderson What are you celebrating this year?

For 25 years prior to Primestar, I worked for one of the world’s largest diamond companies. Our size made for many strengths. Yet, this same size brought weakness to areas I understood to be key,. Nowhere did I see this more than in decision-making – and that is why Primestar remains poised to act with agility. Daily, we make decisions that might take traditionally tiered companies weeks or even months to mull over. Leadership involved at every level, decision-makers right there on the ground. Nimble yet focused, we match the strengths of established industry players but sidestep bureaucratic delays. Because in any modern business, decisive action is vital. What trait do you consider paramount in the diamond industry of tomorrow?

As we wrap up the week, one thing stands out, and I'm incredibly grateful for it today: Team. Your team is everything. Be thankful for them. Take the time to let them know. And if you work for or with someone who doesn’t do this, quit and go find someone who will. You deserve to be a part of a great team. You can go very fast alone, and slowing down to define things and get everyone aligned is hard work. But it’s the work you have to do to go far. It may feel frustrating and slow, but it’s what builds legacies. It’s what allows you to pass on generational wealth and success. For those who know me, I like to go fast, so slowing down is hard. But I’ve learned that the journey is more rewarding when you go far together. Let’s build something lasting, something meaningful. Here's to the teams that make it all possible. Celebrating Small Wins to End the Year on a High Note December can be a busy and stressful time of year. Pausing to celebrate small wins and showing appreciation, even in small ways, can have a big impact. It boosts morale, strengthens connections, and reminds your team of their value and how much they matter. These moments of recognition also encourage a positive and appreciative culture that extends beyond the holiday season. Celebration and acknowledgment don’t have to be elaborate or time-consuming. They can be as simple as: Sharing a heartfelt thank-you for everyone’s contributions. Highlighting individual or team successes in a meeting or email. Encouraging team members to reflect on their own achievements. These gestures remind people that their efforts matter, especially during a time when stress or fatigue might overshadow the positives. As a leader, you have the power to close out the year with gratitude and connection, leaving your team inspired and energized for what’s to come. Take a moment to reflect: What small wins can you celebrate with your team this month, and how can you make those moments meaningful?

Lisa Moody has a very special pitch. Early 30’s to late 40’s where the end of her sentences gives such a gentle raspiness. Almost naïve, vulnerable with charm. Even the smallest gestures can spark the brightest smiles, I know it, I have seen it! As Chief of Staff at Gopal Namkeen, I firmly believe that celebrating small wins isn’t just about recognition, it’s about building a culture where every effort matters and every contribution is valued. When we take a moment to acknowledge even the tiniest milestones, it creates an atmosphere of positivity and encouragement. It motivates individuals to keep pushing forward, knowing their hard work is noticed. Whether it’s a creative idea, or simply lending a helping hand, these moments deserve to be celebrated. Small wins remind us that progress isn’t always about giant leaps—it’s about the consistent steps that lead to growth. At Gopal, celebrating these steps isn’t just a practice, it’s our way of saying, 'We see you, we value you, and together, we grow.'

Ever think about everything you truly have to be thankful for? I did, and it blew my mind. I decided to look up how wealthy I was compared to the rest of the world and was stunned to discover that I’m in the top 1%. I certainly don’t feel that wealthy—I’m middle class at best here. But then I got to thinking. I really do have a lot to be thankful for, and wealth is only a part of it. →I’m healthy. →My kids and family are healthy. →I have a wonderful relationship with my parents and brothers. →A wonderful relationship with my partner and her kids. →I’ve never had to worry about the cost of food or fuel. →I can provide all the necessities and fun my kids could ever want. →I have dependable employment. →Great coworkers and management. →A fantastic home. Life is dynamic, and it’s easy to forget everything you have to be thankful for. But this Thanksgiving, really take a moment to reflect on all the little and big things you might take for granted every day. I bet you’ll find you have more to be thankful for than you think. _________________________________________ Follow Jim Tracy for daily posts on Elite Buying, technology team building and leadership!

Today, I wanted to share the story of my journey over the past few years. I wanted to share my experience with dedication, determination, and patience. This happened a year back when I was part of a project in my organization that required 100% of my focus. I was so committed to the task that I completely overlooked that we were missing essential supplies and the environment was disorganized. Can you imagine working in a place like that? Despite these challenging conditions, I mastered the necessary skills, and my work significantly benefited the organization. After almost a year and a half, we ended up in a new office with all the facilities. I believe that when you are determined to achieve something, nothing, not even the lack of basic needs, can stop you. Do you believe that facing challenges can make you stronger? If so, I would love to hear your story. Keep in mind that your leaders are observing. Demonstrate to them that you are prepared for greater responsibilities. PS:::Even though we lacked basic facilities, we still found joy in our outdoor walks with our team. PSS::: I am grateful for my amazing team who has supported me through both the good times and the bad. Thank you, team!
