C.M.B consulting services had the privilege of attending the Engineers Australia Australia webinar Thought Leaders Series on Engineering the 2032 Olympics and beyond for the SEQ region. It was truly inspiring to hear from experts Leah Kelly, Evelyn Storey, and Rob Malkin as they discussed the key aspects of large-scale infrastructure development ahead. The innovations and technological advances being implemented for the 2032 Olympic infrastructure, including low-carbon designs, digital twin technology, and AI systems, are truly groundbreaking for Australia. These advancements will not only support the sustainability of the games but also revolutionise construction methodologies, with integration with other infrastructure and communities. By incorporating lessons learned from past Olympic games, the SEQ region will be well-equipped to plan and design infrastructure that will have a lasting impact on surrounding communities for years to come. The legacy of the 2032 Olympics will be felt long after the games are over in positive way while Brisbane's landscape grows. 👀 There's a blind spot in your work... and you can't see it! As engineers, we develop tunnel vision – established ways of working that become so automatic we stop questioning them. It’s less about familiarity and more about solutions we take for granted, which stand in the way of innovation. This surely isn't unique to engineering. What if I told you, there's a powerful antidote? An often overlooked opportunity is the fresh perspectives from new team members that challenge assumptions and spot opportunities we've become blind to. The value extends far beyond additional bandwidth. We witnessed this firsthand when Henrik Prüß joined our team recently. His courage to question established ways, from our refinement process to system complexities we had normalized, is invaluable. It's not easy to be the new voice challenging status quo, but that's precisely what we need. Building an environment where opinions are actively encouraged is incredibly important. But there's a catch – as newcomers gradually adapt to existing patterns, the fresh perspective gradually fades.
