On this World Health Day, with the theme "My Health, My Right," I'm reminded of the vital mission we have as the Clinical Best Practice Council (CBPC) at Elsevier. While health is a human right, billions still lack access to essential services. At the CBPC, we are committed to advancing equitable, quality care for all. This year's theme deeply resonates, as ensuring this fundamental right, regardless of geography or circumstance, is imperative. To help advance this mission, we’ve identified themes which all can play a role in building a future where health knows no boundaries. - Providing empathetic care to improve patient experiences and outcomes. - Addressing and eliminating health inequities for more equitable systems. - How health professionals can drive patient health literacy forward. - Combating burnout to protect the wellbeing of our healthcare professionals and caregivers. - Enabling patients to have access to the right information, at the right time in their health journey. In the coming months, our Clinical Best Practice Council will be exploring each of the themes in more detail with insights, interactive content, and more. 📢 Exciting Share from Our Team at Northeast Scientific! We're excited to highlight a World Health Organization (WHO) publication, shared by one of our dedicated team members majoring in Business Administration with a focus in Health Care. The report, "Everybody's Business: Strengthening Health Systems to Improve Health Outcomes," emphasizes that "a well-functioning health system ensures equitable access to essential medical products, vaccines, and technologies of assured quality, safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness, and their scientifically sound and cost-effective use." This resonates deeply with our mission at Northeast Scientific, where we strive to enhance health outcomes in the Office Based Lab & Ambulatory Surgical Center space. Reprocessing single-use devices is not only cost-effective but also minimizes waste, promoting sustainability within healthcare systems. This approach embodies the principles of efficiency and effectiveness advocated by WHO, ultimately enhancing health outcomes for patients worldwide. Together, we're committed to advancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare. #SmartHealthcare #WHO #NortheastScientific #HealthcareInnovation https://lnkd.in/eaCb3Ww4

But knowing what time we have left or knowing our risk for disease can be the catalyst for starting to make tailored decisions about health care. It might mean starting to think about palliative care as we approach end of life. It might mean changing our some of our lifestyle factors to potentially reduce our risk of dementia. Dr. Amy Hsu is one of the scientists building practical tools for older adults to use with their care providers – calculators that can measure life expectancy or risk of developing dementia. When it comes to care planning for a loved one, we want to make the best decisions possible. What if we could know more about a loved one’s health trajectory in advance and plan for better, more compassionate care? “In Ontario, we are fortunate to have access to world-class health data,” says Amy Hsu, PhD. “It is transforming our ability to personalize care and help patients and clinicians anticipate care needs and better prepare for what’s to come.” She sees how the vast amounts of data that are funneled through the health care system can fuel productive and life-changing conversations. On Tuesday 2 July, 14:00–15:00 CEST, we invite you to join our free webinar, where a panel of experts will discuss the policy principles needed to build trust in health systems. Trust in health systems is one of the most valuable resources; it is hard to build, and easy to break. For many people from traditionally under-represented groups, health systems are inequitable. There can be extensive barriers to accessing care and widely different experiences of the health system. As a result, these communities may not trust the health system – and may face poorer outcomes. To create sustainable and equitable health systems that serve the needs of the whole population, leaders must prioritise the four key policy principles identified in our upcoming report ‘Earning trust: a foundation for health equity’: understanding, inclusion, transparent communication, and data generation. The report and webinar are part of the A Million Conversations project. This international initiative by Sanofi aims to build under-represented groups’ trust in health systems. Join us on Tuesday 2 July, 14:00 – 15:00 CEST, to be part of the discussion. Sign up for the webinar below: https://lnkd.in/efjciNUm
