Welcome to my latest project! Check the short film with my re-score below :) For this Indie Film Music Contest, I chose to create a deeply atmospheric and intimate piece inspired by the sense of unease felt during the first week of the COVID-19 lockdown. I carefully selected the instrumentation to evoke a profound emotional response and focused intensely on the timbral textures of the soundscape. Brief from the Director: Film Overview: “Shopping Trip,” created during the first week of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, encapsulates the profound worry and unease of that period. The monochrome animation takes the viewer on a solitary journey, capturing the surreal experience of a simple shopping trip transformed by the pandemic’s shadow. Scoring Objective: The score should amplify the pervasive sense of dread and the unknown, evoking the emotions felt during that unprecedented time. Your music should transport the audience back to those early lockdown days, mirroring the anxiety and tension. Structure: First Part: Accompany the protagonist’s journey to the store, building tension and culminating at the ‘heat detector’ scene. Second Part: Transition to a sense of cautious relief as the protagonist exits the store, while also reflecting on the realisation that their elderly neighbor might be in need, underscoring a mix of empathy and concern. Guidelines: Capture the emotional journey from dread to relief, highlighting the contrasts in the protagonist’s experience. Use soundscapes that evoke the eerie, isolated atmosphere of lockdown. Aim to create a score that is both haunting and empathetic, resonating with the audience’s own memories and emotions from that time. This article highlights one of the many reasons I rarely sign album packages. I understand why a composer might choose to write a collection of tracks before approaching a publisher. This approach reflects the traditional role of a publisher or label in representing music for its inherent artistic value or commercial appeal to a specific audience. However, I strongly believe this has never been—and will never be—the role of production music. At Klanglobby, my focus is to meet the specific demands of our media clients. To achieve this, we must consider all relevant industry data, client strategies, and values before bringing a new album to market. This process always involves open dialogue with our writers and producers during production. My sole objective is to make our clients happy and provide our partners with content that is relevant to their needs.

Whether it's a gripping drama, a heartfelt documentary, or an adrenaline-pumping action sequence, every show deserves a unique sound that enhances its narrative. When composing for TV, it’s not just about creating something that sounds good—it’s about connecting with the emotion of the scene, complementing the visuals, and supporting the storytelling. The music must be both subtle and powerful, setting the tone without overshadowing the plot. ✨ Key challenges I love about scoring for TV: Timing: Syncing music with the pace and rhythm of scenes. Flexibility: Adapting to the director’s vision while adding my creative touch. Emotion: Capturing the essence of a character or moment and amplifying it through sound. It’s a collaboration—working closely with directors, producers, and editors to find the perfect balance. It’s a rewarding process to see how music can elevate a show and make moments truly unforgettable.
