Zimba Women, in partnership with @CapitalPenda and @UCC_Official successfully launched the “State of Digital Inclusion for Women in the Informal Sector in Uganda, 2024”report at the American Center Kampala. The report highlights key findings and actionable recommendations to bridge the digital gender divide, empower women in the informal sector, and foster equitable access to opportunities in Uganda’s digital economy. Empowering Women and Girls in the Digital Age: Digital Woman Uganda (DWU) 🌟 We are proud to introduce Digital Woman Uganda (DWU), a non-profit organization founded in 2019, committed to promoting digital literacy and empowering women and girls across Uganda. Co-founded by Pinno Ivan and Goretti Amuriat, our mission is to bridge the digital gender gap, ensuring that every woman and girl has the skills and opportunities to thrive in the digital world. Our Vision: A future where every woman and girl in Uganda is empowered with digital literacy skills and has equal access to opportunities in the digital world. Our Mission: To empower women and girls through digital literacy training, advocacy, and support programs, providing them with the knowledge and resources to confidently navigate the digital landscape and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Key Objectives: Promote Digital Literacy: Providing essential digital skills training, including computer literacy, internet usage, and digital safety. Advocate for Gender Equality: Raising awareness of the digital gender gap and advocating for policies promoting gender equality in the digital sphere. Support Women-led Digital Initiatives: Helping women entrepreneurs and leaders launch and scale digital projects that address local challenges and drive economic empowerment. Foster a Supportive Community: Creating a network where women and girls can share experiences, exchange ideas, and support each other on their digital journeys. Our Impact: Since 2019, DWU has trained thousands of women and girls in digital literacy skills across Uganda. We have collaborated with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners to advocate for policies and programs that promote gender equality and digital inclusion.
