The Kenya Innovation Week (KIW) 2024 - African Edition commenced on Monday, 25 November 2024. Organized by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA), this forum seeks to strengthen the African innovation ecosystem for the collective prosperity of the continent, with Kenya taking the lead as a trailblazer. The event focuses on addressing critical challenges, including youth unemployment, Kenya’s innovation gap, and innovation funding. As part of the week-long activities, the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), a state corporation with a mandate to promote, coordinate and regulate the space industry in the country, will host a Space Summit on Thursday 28 November 2024 in partnership with RIIS - Research Institute for Innovation and Sustainability, Expertise France and Innovate UK. The Space Summit will spotlight opportunities within the space industry, positioning Kenya as a premier African hub for space-related businesses while creating an environment that attracts global investments and strategic partnerships. A key highlight of the summit will be the Africa Earth Observation Challenge (AEOC) 2024 pitching event, featuring 14 finalists from startups across Africa. These innovators will present groundbreaking solutions that leverage Earth Observation data to address societal challenges before a panel of judges. Winners will benefit from a mentorship program to turn their ideas into thriving businesses. The annual AEOC event seeks to catalyze the African space ecosystem by fostering a startup culture that identifies and nurtures innovations with real societal impact. In addition, KSA will participate in the KIW exhibition from 25–29 November 2024, engaging delegates on its cutting-edge contributions to Kenya’s space ecosystem. Visit booths 42 and 43, under the Space Summit-KSA banner, to learn more about KSA’s innovative work and its vision for the future.
