Thank you to everyone who voted on last weeks’ poll, it received over 500 votes from people working in the marketing space in Scotland, and so this will provide hiring teams with really useful, accurate and timely data! I thought I’d share a few trends that I noticed, reviewing the results: 💡 We are still a ‘remote first’ industry, with 39% of people working this way. Closely followed by ‘hybrid’ at 34% and finally ‘office based’ coming in at 27% of the votes. 💡 Most people who are office-based work in either services (marketing agency, recruitment agency, tech MSP providers and so on), retail, hospitality or construction. 💡 The majority of office-based employers have recruited into their teams, in the last 6 months. 💡 The most FTSE500 companies, appear to be hybrid. 💡 The majority of ‘remote first’ employees have been in their current role for at least 5 years (whether that be with one employer, or more than one, their job role hasn’t changed.) 💡 Self employed workers and business owners are working remotely on the most part. If you are looking for more insights into how we are looking to be working in 2025, please reach out and we can have a more specific and in depth conversation! kmcfarlane@weareninetwenty.com 07385666708

Interesting poll 🤯 WFH in the marketing industry should be optional. I believe it would benefit most companies in long term because employees are happier when they reduce their commute and can be more flexible, and most marketing roles don’t require to be in the office. 🤝

#OpenRoles below, scroll down. I had created a poll asking about going Return to office mandates. Almost 100 responses Are happy back in the office? 7% Know someone leaving/resigned 32% BOTH, but more happy 3% BOTH, but more unhappy 57% (ful post here https://lnkd.in/dcwpYYaX? ) I am not surprised by the results. Most people are unhappy or leaving in mandate situations. A new study shows that companies that mandate #RTO see slower workforce growth, an analysis from Revelio Labs echoes research showing that office mandates cost companies hard-to-replace workers and hamper hiring. https://lnkd.in/dhscSY4X #Hybridwork seems to be the mix of both worlds that both employees and company that can live with…but you don’t make the rules. Pointing to that study as "SEE SEE" won't make the roles be remote again. Decisions have been made. My word of caution. It is not greener on the other side. AT&T Sweetgreen and others are announcing RTO mandates for 2025. (https://lnkd.in/duZDH47b) I have been recruiting for roles that require back in the office. More companies are requiring office. So.... Don’t be allergic to in office roles, they might be more common soon. If you are earlier in your career, treat it as an opportunity to learn and accelerate your career. If you are still looking and avoiding office roles, maybe time to reevaluate. Thanks for voting! A whopping 69% of you, like me, wouldn't consider a job with no WFH options. So only 352 of the 1134 people who voted would. Meaning companies with no hybrid model can still attract candidates - but it makes my job about…..um 69% more challenging. I thought this figure would be much lower but after further research, a lot more people are already back working 5 days in the office than I initially thought, especially in construction. Robert Half did a study of 1000 Australian workers last month and found that 39% are mandated to attend the office full-time. This is over a double jump from 2023, when only 19% of business leaders had implemented full-time office attendance. Clearly, the post covid boom has well and truly popped and companies are keeping a closer eye on their employee's productivity in the office. What a shame for the working parents trying to juggle the pick-ups and bedtimes. I wonder if anyone has the data for what it does to productivity levels and will 2025 see another big increase in office mandates? #WFH #flexibleworking #recruitment #lifeafterlockdown

📑This study is eye opening 👀 “The results showed that while many of the companies said they were bringing employees back to the office to improve the bottom line, there were no significant changes in financial performance or firm values after the mandates were implemented. But there was a sharp decrease in employees’ job satisfaction.” #remotework #workfromhome https://lnkd.in/gDkd-haR

More of the workforce is being mandated back into the office – but how do they feel about it? Our latest research report reveals some eye-opening insights. 🥳 64% are in favor of a return. ☹️ But a huge 54% (including some of those in favor of a return) think "going to the office feels like a waste of time." Employees have loosely bought into rising return to office (RTO) mandates, but 73% (both RTO detractors and supporters) think their employer could do more to improve the in-office experience. How can employers ensure workers don’t feel like they’re wasting their time? By doing more and listening to employees’ needs. Take a closer look at what those are in our 2024 Workplace experience trends & insights report. https://lnkd.in/dZK4_AaJ

A recent study conducted by economists at Stanford University and Gusto, concluded that the average distance between individuals' residences and workplaces surged from 10 miles in 2019 to 27 miles in 2023. Thats over double the commuting distance! Check out more insights found within the study which examined employee and employer address data from nearly 6,000 employers nationwide. #hybridwork #remotework #taxcompliance Topia https://lnkd.in/dMd7CT-M

📖 Lunchtime reading 📖 It's been four years since the onset of Covid-19, and at the recent The Australian Financial Review Workforce Summit, attendees were asked to raise their hands if they thought hybrid work was here to stay. Then, they were asked to keep their hand up if they thought their company had nailed its approach to hybrid working. Unsurprisingly, most hands went down when asked that second question. Despite being in 2024, there remains a lack of consensus on this topic. Also, Perth has had the highest office occupancy rates in Q3 2023 and Q4 2023, which is interesting to reflect on. As a Recruiter, this is a key part of the negotiation process along with employee benefits to sign an employment contract, and I wanted to share this article with my network and hear your thoughts on the topic. What are your experiences and thoughts on hybrid work? I'd love to hear your reflections! Article - https://lnkd.in/g-4QrGKK Alex Da Silva, CA Craig Youngson #HybridWork #WorkforceTrends
