Can you remember back to 2016 when Kiwis rallied to buy back a private beach in Abel Tasman National Park? How good did that feel?!?! 💪A beautiful part of Aotearoa secured for the benefit of future generations.🫶 But did you know that Toha NZ includes the same crew who founded Givealittle? Toha’s founders were inspired by Kiwi generosity then, and are even more motivated to unleash environmental impact across New Zealand today. The team has been underground - in “soil mode” - figuring out how to take grassroots action to the next level 🌱 Why? 🤷♀️  Because... 1️⃣ regeneration starts in the soil  2️⃣ nature needs us to get to work now 3️⃣ communities need more resources to adapt to climate change  4️⃣ farmers and landowners should be financially supported to protect and regenerate nature The result of all this work is the Toha system - subscribe to the Substack to stay across developments - https://lnkd.in/gKjaGghJ. Across the world, Nature For Justice (N4J) leverages the power of #nature to make a beneficial difference in communities facing the challenges of #climatechange. Our collaborative efforts focus on prioritizing communities and serving as effective tools for promoting social justice, community strength, and responding to climate change. ▪️In the US, we empower Black and Indigenous farmers to lead the way in adopting regenerative agriculture practices. ▪️In Canada, we collaborate with Indigenous Nations to discover sustainable funding sources for Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas.  ▪️In Africa, our partnerships focus on supporting small-scale farmers and local landowners. ▪ We are also exploring opportunities in Latin America and Asia.

Here's a great article about how World Vision, in partnership with the government and local communities, reached more than 1 MILLION people with access to clean water in Rwanda. I love this article because it highlights some of what makes our programs unique: long-term partnership and close collaboration with governments and communities, engagement of faith actors, intensive planning and use of data for decision making, and a deep commitment to sustainability. The article also does a great job at capturing how access to clean water transforms households, communities, and institutions. From Parfaite Uwera, the acting mayor of Gicumbi District: “World Vision really is special in the area of partnership.… They make sure that what they leave behind is safe and sustainable.” Well done, World Vision Rwanda!

❗ The next few weeks are really important in the world of climate, biodiversity and environmental impact and Subak Australia is excited to be involved. 1️⃣ Next week is the inaugural Global Nature Positive Summit 2024 in Sydney and our Executive Director and Founder, Chris Wilson will be there, promoting the vital role of the early stage founders and the not-for-profit pioneers we promote and support. 2️⃣ Also next week in Washington 🇺🇸, our UK Founder Bryony Worthington and Head of Communications Louise Denver will be representing Subak Australia at the Public Interest Registry #ORGImpactAwards, where we are one of 5 finalists for the #EnvironmentalStewardship Award … cross your fingers for us 🤞🏼 . 3️⃣ Then it is time for the second Australian SXSW Sydney which kicks off on Monday 14 October, and Chris will be 'ambassadoring' himself around town across the first three days, talking to #Founders and #Investors focusing on the #naturalenvironment, #climateaction and #impact. 🌍 Enhancing Community Resilience and Sustainability: A Field Visit to Chikito, Adamawa State As part of the monitoring and evaluation framework under the partnership between the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and Concern on Climate Change for the Community Initiative (FOURCi), Valeria De Matteis, NRC’s Regional Partnership Advisor, conducted a supervisory field visit to Chikito in Fofure LGA, Adamawa State. The visit focused on assessing project implementation progress, engaging with beneficiaries, and ensuring alignment with the project’s objectives of fostering community resilience and sustainability. Highlights of the visit included observing the impact of interventions such as: 🌱 Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA): Promoting sustainable farming practices. 🌳 Tree Planting Activities: Enhancing environmental conservation efforts. 🌟 Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR): Building capacity for mitigating climate-related risks. The visit also provided a platform to identify challenges and develop collaborative solutions, strengthening our commitment to creating sustainable change.
