🎤 New Form3 .tech Podcast 🎤 Super excited to announce that we have just released a new Form3 .tech podcast on automated DR testing. In this episode I'm joined by two of my colleagues Viktor Peacock & Mike Tonks to discuss the approach we take to automated DR testing at Form3. In many companies DR testing is a one off task that is performed once per year, often the day after the test has been performed it is out of date because your code has changed from what was tested. At Form3 we have a different approach to DR testing where we have automated DR tests to simulate AZ failure, cloud failure, network failure etc and we assert that our platform can withstand those scenarios. The other day I talked to Nicolas Fränkel 🇺🇦 from API7.ai for my simplyblock Cloud Commute podcast. And while all of the episode is awesome (I'm totally not biased here! 😁), this is my favorite part! ➡️ Don't believe vendor benchmarks. It's something I'm telling people for years! ➡️ There are vendors that make benchmarks in a way that they benefit only themselves. If a benchmark shows to be faster, cheaper, or anything, in ALL situations, no exceptions - ignore it right away! The vendor is lying like 99.999%! You know, the typical five9s 🫣 ➡️ If there is a good mix of win and loose, yes the vendor at least tries to be honest. Here's a good point to start investigating yourself and run the benchmark yourself. Why? 🤯 Because artificial data sets or fake traffic patterns influence benchmark results. The vendor doesn't know your system. They don't know the behavior of your customers, visitors, or whatever. If you want numbers you can trust, you HAVE TO run your own benchmark. No way around it.
