Conclusion of Contract Concerning the Strategic Partnership for Further Growth and Development of Marubeni Corporation and AEON Co., Ltd. Summary: Marubeni Corporation and AEON Co., Ltd. have concluded a new “Contract Concerning the Strategic Partnership” aimed at further development of the “Letter of Agreement on Strategic Partnership” signed on March 27, 2013. The Contract was signed with the intention of further developing the trust and proven track record that Marubeni and AEON have built over an extended period and to establish a partnership for creating new value by leveraging both companies’ business foundations. Through the Contract, the two companies will explore possibilities for business opportunities in all areas, including product procurement and development, domestic and international distribution structures, GX, and DX, to expand their joint efforts in the medium to long term. Furthermore, to strengthen the relationship between the two parties, Marubeni has acquired additional shares in AEON. My Dear LinkedIn Network, This might be a longer one, so to the point - at the end of April, I’ve decided to step down as CMO of Rohlik.cz after more than three years, with my last day being June 30. Anyone familiar with Rohlik.cz knows that over three years here feels like a lifetime, packed with experiences that could fill a book 😀 Rohlik is a not easy. When making the decisision to join, the odds of surviving even a year were slim. Let me share my brief story and some learnings, hope some might find it useful, and thank some people along the way. Part I – A big thanks to Petr Pavlik and Jakub Petřina for bringing me in. Learning by doing during full COVID, with a broken team, we made it through. CMO at Rohlik typically lasts six months, and I was on the edge too couple of times...😁 Part II – After six months, Olin Novák became the new CEO. Initially skeptical, I remember Olin saying, "You are actually good, let's do great things together!" 😎 We stabilized the business post-COVID, learned from each other, and achieved big things quickly. Thanks for everything, Oline! Part III – Martin Behan then led Czech Rohlik. Together for 18 months, we laid true foundations, rocketing customer base, orders, and profitability to levels that seemed impossible a year ago. Thanks, Martine, for your patience and belief in gradual improvements leading to a snowball effect, we have things to be proud of! In April, we finished the last financial year, beating customer, order, and frequency targets, and achieving strong double-digit growth. So, why leave now? It's about recognizing the right time. I'm tired and need more time for family and myself. Thanks to my team - Jste hvězdy ⭐ and peers, I’m ending on a high note, higher than I could’ve imagined three years ago. However, my energy to contribute is not what it once was. So, this is the right time. What have I learnt from my experience at Rohlik.cz? 1. Customer obsession can crush the market and competition. Trust the process and believe in it. Customer focus at Rohlik is unparalleled. 2. Team energy, passion, and belief in the purpose can work miracles, overcoming tough times and making you stronger. 3. Businesses work within frameworks. Stay calm, apply common sense, and understand the root causes to achieve almost anything. 4. Battles don't win wars. Stay focused on your purpose and don’t get too emotional when things don’t go your way. 5. If you push people to their limits and recognize their success, they will want to do even more for you. 6. An old Czech saying: Nothing is as hot as it seems 😉 Rohlik is emotional for me, so I’ve taken some time to reflect on this journey since the decision. What’s next? I’ll take the summer off to reset and think about my next chapter. Hopefully, I’ll know soon. All the best and Rohlik.cz forever! And thanks Tomáš Čupr for bearing with me :-) and giving me a chance.

A Lesson in Adaptation: The Journey of Nabi Saleh and Gloria Jean’s Coffee In 1974, Nabi Saleh embarked on a career in the tea and coffee industry in Papua New Guinea, focusing on marketing and manufacturing. His dedication and expertise led him to become a prominent figure in Australia's coffee scene. But it was a visit to a Chicago coffee shop in 1995 that truly transformed his trajectory. Nabi, along with business partner Peter Irvine, discovered Gloria Jean’s Coffee and was so impressed that they secured the rights to introduce it to Australia. They opened two stores in Sydney in 1996, but faced significant challenges. The stores, modeled after the U.S. concept, didn’t resonate with Australian customers. Nabi reflects, “We based our stores on the U.S. model, which was totally un-Australian. People loved the coffee, but they wondered, ‘Where are the seats? Where is the food?’” It became clear that a crucial adjustment was needed. Determined to succeed, Nabi and Peter took nearly two years to refine their approach. They adapted their stores to better meet local preferences, focusing on creating an inviting environment rather than just a takeaway concept. This customer-centric shift laid the foundation for rapid growth. Within a decade, they opened over 300 stores and expanded globally. By 2005, they acquired the international rights to Gloria Jean’s, and today, the brand boasts around 600 stores across forty countries. One key takeaway from Nabi’s journey, which I recently read in John C. Maxwell’s book "Everyone Communicates, Few Connect," is his profound perspective: “We aren’t in the coffee business, serving people. We are in the people business, serving coffee.” This mindset is not just about selling a product; it’s about understanding and prioritizing the needs of your customers.
