Opportunity.
Today is the last day to apply for the next cohort!
In the words of my great grandmother Josephine Little Hurst, “don’t tarry too long in doubt, you got to move”.
There are many meaningful things I learned as a member of #cohortVI with BLCK VC institute.
One that replays in my head consistently is that ‘if I have the fundamentals in place I can make my vision a reality.’
#BVI gives you the fundamentals of #venturecapital and a network of brilliant professionals to help you execute.
“What drew me to The Registry and the interim role was the prospect of selecting institutions that align with my values; ones I’ve felt most comfortable with. The right setting is really important.”
In our latest video, Rick DiFeliciantonio talks about how the ease of Registry interim placements have benefitted him at this stage in his career.
“Whether I was a client and hiring a Registry interim, or whether I was hired as a Registry Interim, I experienced the capacity to assist colleagues grow as a result of my experience and my interim placement, or I grew as a result of bringing in a Registry Interim. So for me The Registry is Higher Education’s executive mentor.”

Many veterans are under the impression that it's too late to file their claim or that they've waited too long, thereby missing out on various opportunities to receive their VA benefits.
𝗦𝗼, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗩𝗔 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆?
The eligibility to apply for VA benefits does not expire. Veterans can file a claim for disability benefits no matter how long it has been since they were discharged—whether it’s been a year or even forty years.
It's common for veterans to file claims years after their discharge. These are known as post-service disability claims and they represent the bulk of the submissions received by the Veterans Affairs office.
It's best to file your claim promptly. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) advises that delaying the process can complicate your claim and make it more difficult to access medical records. Filing your VA benefits claim as soon as possible ensures you get the earliest possible effective date, which is critical for maximizing potential back pay owed to you.

A COMPASSIONATE ECONOMY IS IT POSSIBLE?
Last Friday, I had the privilege of attending a thought-provoking discussion that challenged conventional business models. Melanie Rieback and Alison Holloway explained how their company business models work with an approach that challenges the traditional drive to extract wealth from production, offering instead a more balanced, equitable, environmentally sound and compassionate way of doing business.
🤷♀️ What is it about this model that is compassionate
➡ It's a business model that prioritises people, the environment and society over profits, enabling everyone involved - employees, owners, customers, the business and even the economy to thrive without causing the harm of traditional business models.
➡ Staff and owners alike earn a fair and livable wage, but no one becomes 'unnaturally wealthy', as Melanie puts it. At the same time, staff don't get terminated for a sniff of a slight boost to the company's profit.
➡ Customers are charged market rates, with provisions to subsidise those who need the service but can't afford to pay as much.
➡ No shareholder's interest in extracting wealth from the business is prioritised above all else. Measures are put in place to stop this eventuality from arising.
🤔 If you find this business model as intriguing as me, I highly recommend watching Melanie's TED talk.
For those who are truly enthusiastic, Melanie's LinkedIn page hosts a series of 8 YouTube clips, each over an hour long, on how to build a non-extractive business.
🙏 A big that you to Antony McMullen, FGIA, FRSA, for your inspiring wrap-up at the end of the panel discussion and to the 888 Co-operative Causeway Limited and RSA Oceania for making the event happen and Clare Fountain, GAICD, for being an excellent panel facilitator
