The GCC region experiences a similar challenge to Saudi Arabia during the summer months: a decline in restaurant sales due to scorching temperatures. During this period, restaurants across the region can implement the following strategies: Climate Control: Prioritize comfortable indoor environments with efficient air conditioning systems. Menu Adjustments: Introduce lighter, refreshing dishes and beverages aligned with the warmer weather. Digital Engagement: Enhance online ordering and delivery services to cater to customers who prefer to stay indoors. Promotions and Offers: Attract customers with limited-time deals, discounts, or loyalty programs. Experiential Dining: Focus on creating unique and memorable dining experiences to differentiate your restaurant.
As summer temperatures rise in Saudi Arabia, restaurants are adapting their strategies to stay competitive. Industry leaders are modifying operating hours, refreshing menus, leveraging digital platforms, and employing innovative marketing tactics to attract and retain customers. Flexible timings, special summer menus, and a focus on customer behaviour are key approaches. Restaurants also use social media and digital platforms to maintain visibility and engage customers. Two years ago, I took charge of the catering department at the company I work for. We built the department from scratch, assembled a dedicated team and developed our catering marketing strategy. Today, I’m incredibly proud that we had the opportunity to cater for the Foreign Ministry of Kuwait—a milestone that reflects our passion and dedication😍 Success in catering is a cycle: 1️⃣ Trust & Support – A company that believes in you and provides the resources you need. 2️⃣ Efficient Systems – Creating a seamless workflow for the kitchen, service and logistics teams to operate without mistakes. 3️⃣ Customer-Centric Approach – Offering flexible menu options to accommodate customer preferences. 4️⃣ Appealing Presentation – Organizing and setting up a buffet that looks vibrant, rich and inviting. 5️⃣ Visibility & Engagement – Sharing the experience on social media. 6️⃣ Continuous Improvement – Calling customers for feedback and learning from it. 7️⃣ Growth Mindset – Striving to make every buffet better than the last, ensuring continuous development. Proud of how far we’ve come, and excited for what’s ahead! 🚀 #management #organizing #preparations #effectively #catering #hospitality #restaurants

So here we go. After spending two weeks exploring Riyadh’s restaurants—ranging from luxury dining to delivery-focused spots—I’ve noticed some recurring challenges that are hard to ignore. Many restaurants, including big-name chains, were almost empty, with staff standing idle and unmotivated. Even the busier spots didn’t live up to expectations—pricey menus but underwhelming food quality. It made me wonder: - Is staff motivation and training being overlooked? - Are the menus too mainstream and uninspired, failing to spark excitement? - With so much competition, are restaurants struggling to differentiate themselves? Riyadh is a city with incredible culinary potential, but it feels like much of it is going untapped. In such a competitive market, standing out isn’t just about location or marketing—it’s about delivering quality, creativity, and an experience that customers will remember. What’s your take on this? As a customer, what do you think Riyadh’s dining scene is missing? And for industry professionals, how do you tackle these challenges in such a crowded market?

Saudi Arabia’s Roads and Accessibility: The Unseen Force pushing the F&B Trends in #KSA. Saudi Arabia’s road network and ongoing work have reshaped the food and beverage industry, forcing every restaurant and café to position itself as a destination rather than a casual drop-in spot. Unlike cities with dense, walkable districts, Saudi’s expansive highways algorithm direct traffic toward landmark locations. This has led to placing easy going concepts into fine dining and upscale spots, that makes it hard to justify their business model feasibility in these prime locations. This approach driving to an upscale guest experience has attracted faced challenges. High operational costs, premium pricing, and limited customer frequency have made it difficult for many venues to sustain long-term success. The market response has been clear: consumers are seeking more accessible and casual experiences that still deliver quality but without the formalities and high price tags of fine dining. To balance this, the focus is shifting toward #urbanstyle districts that encourage easy-going, community-driven F&B concepts. Mixed-use developments, creative hubs, and pedestrian-friendly areas that can drive organic foot traffic and support vibrant mid-range dining experiences. These districts allow restaurants and cafés to thrive without relying solely on a “destination dining” model, offering a more sustainable approach for Saudi Arabia’s evolving F&B landscape. As the Kingdom continues to develop, urban planning will play a crucial role in shaping the future of dining, making way for more flexible and dynamic food concepts that align with modern consumer behavior. #UrbanPlanning #Riyadhfood #Riyadhrestaurants #KSArestaurants

Is the restaurants boom in the GCC a real opportunity? The restaurant industry in the GCC is buzzing. But is this a wave everyone can ride, or are there hidden challenges beneath the surface? I recently had a great conversation with someone interested in this very topic, and I wanted to share some insights! Is the Market Growing? Absolutely! The Saudi market, for example, is experiencing a boom due to Vision 2030's focus on diversifying income and attracting tourists. Dubai and other emirates are likely to follow suit. However, growth doesn't guarantee success for every restaurant. Here's why: Market Saturation: The rapid increase in restaurants can lead to fierce competition, especially in smaller markets like Kuwait. Rising Costs: Geopolitical factors, inflation, and increasing operational costs are squeezing profit margins. What Makes a Restaurant Thrive? So, how can restaurants stand out in this dynamic environment? Here are three key ingredients for success: Exceptional Marketing: Craft a strong brand identity and target your marketing efforts to reach the right audience. Prime Location: Secure a strategic location that's easily accessible and aligns with your target market. Unforgettable Customer Experience: Go beyond just good food. Offer impeccable service, a unique design, and a consistently high-quality dining. What are your thoughts? Kindky share your insights in the comments! Photo credit Freepik
