#Circular_economy Circular economy technology company Circtec announced today that it has raised €150 million (USD$163 million), with proceeds to be used for the construction of Europe’s largest end-of-life tire pyrolysis recycling facility in the Netherlands. Founded in 2009, UK-based Circtec utilizes pyrolysis technology to recycle waste into renewable fuels and circular chemicals. The company’s solution decomposes old tires through pyrolysis, a process that transforms waste into circular materials through thermal decomposition in an oxygen-free environment, and upgrades the products into high-quality recycled chemicals and renewable fuels. From the recycled tires, Circtec produces a sustainable marine fuel, circular naptha for responsibly-sourced plastics, polymers and chemicals, and carbon black for use in new tires, rubber and plastics manufacturing. https://lnkd.in/g4-xvhUg

Bioplastics uses confused by lack of labelling – CSIRO Growing environmental concerns have driven a surge in bioplastics, but unclear labelling for disposal is creating challenges, according to a new report from CSIRO. The State of bioplastics in Australia report found consumer confusion over bioplastics, with many bioplastic items ending up in landfill or contaminating recycling and composting streams. Plastics derived from fossil fuels account for three per cent of greenhouse gases. Bioplastics is a term that refers to plastics made from petro-chemical-based or renewable natural materials. In the global push for sustainability, industries are constantly seeking ways to innovate and reduce waste. One of the most promising recent developments in water treatment is the recycling of Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes. As these membranes reach the end of their lifecycle - marked by performance decline due to fouling and degradation - the conventional approach has been to discard them, generating 14,000 tons of plastic waste annually in the process. Unfortunately, many properties that make polystyrene useful backfire when it comes to its ease of recycling, making it troublesome and expensive to recycle. #GREENMAX foam recycling equipment can reduce the volume of #PS foam to 1/50 and 1/90 of the original, effectively saving the storage space of waste EPS polystyrene foam, saving transportation and storage cost, and then turn it into recycled particles through recycling technology for the production of plastic products. https://lnkd.in/gujdByz8
