🚀 Thrilled to share my incredible journey at Hack Fest! 🌿 Though our team, FAZE CLAN, didn't advance beyond the first round, I'm immensely proud of our groundbreaking project: EcoCred. EcoCred has the goal "we all deserve nature " and aims to be the most transparent and rewarding tree planting project. Deforestation is a pressing global issue, and EcoCred aims to address it by developing the most transparent and rewarding tree planting initiative. Our app empowers communities to engage in tree planting and support reforestation efforts, making it easy for individuals to contribute directly to environmental conservation. 🌳 Key Approach: Users can discover and receive notifications about available land plots for tree planting. A sophisticated verification system using satellite imagery and GIS ensures the suitability of land for reforestation. Interactive tools enable users to provide regular updates on their planting activities. Incentive mechanisms reward users with eco-friendly tokens for verified planting efforts. 💡 Challenges We Tackled: Ensuring precise verification and validation of planting activities. Mitigating the risk of greenwashing through rigorous checks. Addressing regional differences in environmental impact. Facilitating effective coordination and communication among participants. EcoCred harnesses community power to identify, analyze, and act on reforestation opportunities, promoting ecosystem restoration through collaborative efforts. 🌐 This journey has been incredibly rewarding, offering valuable insights into project management, community engagement, and the transformative role of technology in environmental sustainability. I'm usually hesitant to make public posts, but I need to express my gratitude to Hatch Works for giving me the opportunity to attend Collision Conf 2024 in Toronto, Canada! I made fantastic connections (and even friends!) and the Collision masterclasses were a perfect fit for Playthical's growth! Pages of notes on crafting standout pitch decks and building resilient startups are ready to be implemented. In particular, I'm grateful to have connected with Re:wild, a conservation and ecosystem restoration nonprofit that aligns with my values. Firstly, Re:wild empowers local organizations and key individuals to protect and rewild. Secondly, it strives to positively inspire and motivate conservation instead of relying solely on alarming messaging. 🎉 Celebrating big milestones with Longo's and Too Good To Go! 🎉 We are thrilled to mark 2 years of our partnership with Longo’s, and what an incredible journey it has been! Since joining the Too Good To Go app 2 years ago, Longos has saved 100,000+ meals from going to waste, making a significant impact on our community and the environment. Thanks to this collaboration, we've avoided: 🌍 590K lbs of C02e, equivalent to 1,475 one-way flights from Toronto to New York 💧 21M gallons of unnecessary water use, the amount it would take to fill a bathtub 503,106 times 🌱 3M square feet of land use avoided, the equivalent of the surface of 1,073 tennis courts. Habits formed young are particularly impactful and there is such a host of benefits to everyday walking that it can never have enough promotion. Why do we in shared transport care about this? Because we know from years of CoMoUK research that shared transport users walk, wheel and cycle a lot more than your average citizen. From Vision to Reality: Celebrating 3 Years of saveBOARD NZ! 🎉 Today marks three years since we started installing our first saveBOARD plant in New Zealand - a milestone that feels even more remarkable given the challenges we faced. Check out this never-before-seen timelapse footage showcasing our equipment installation day, condensing 8 hectic hours into just minutes! 🏗️ Looking back to October 2021, it's almost hard to believe what we accomplished. With global travel at a standstill and NZ's borders firmly closed due to the COVID pandemic, our international installation team from the US and Czech Republic secured crucial MIQ spots through the Construction Sector Accord. Even moving between regions within NZ required careful navigation of local restrictions. But with careful planning, the right expertise, and a stroke of good weather, we pulled it off. Our team's determination and ingenuity turned this ambitious project into reality, setting the foundation for what saveBOARD has become today. Three years on, we're proud to be leading the circular economy revolution in the built environment. Me and a fellow co-worker went to BrewDog for unlimited wings. I can confirm we completed a total of 32 wings each!. Lets just say, it was hard to even stand up after my post-gym food challenge . How many wings do you think you could get through? However, just like participants in the wing challenge need to balance their appetite, pace themselves, and conserve energy for the long haul, businesses need to approach energy usage strategically.
