At Focus Impact Partners, we aim to amplify social impact and generate impactful profits by bringing capital and expertise to "socially forward" companies. That's why we've developed the "Social Forward Playbook" to help the companies with whom we work. This framework reaches beyond traditional ESG metrics endeavoring to proactively help companies achieve greater impact through a combination of Measuring & Communicating, Incentivizing & Rewarding, and Substantively Improving, because we believe impact can be both good for the world and an alpha generator for financial return. Our Social Forward Playbook empowers businesses by: ➡ 1. Measuring & Communicating: An initial step is to develop metrics to effectively measure a business's positive impact. We look to work with a company to develop key metrics, think through data gathering, and establish clear impact objectives as a core business goal. Once a company is measuring, it can communicate these objectives and highlight the goals and outcomes to all of its stakeholders. ➡ 2. Incentivizing & Rewarding: Once we have metrics, we can work with a company to design incentive structures that reward positive impact. These structures can include strategies such as employee ownership, profit-sharing, and bonus structures linked to specific impact goals (e.g., employee well-being and customer satisfaction). We believe in the power of incentives and work to create structures that foster alignment and reward positive outcomes. ➡ 3. Substantively Improving: With a company measuring and communicating its impact objectives and outcomes and rewarding achievement in these areas, we can work with that company to share tools and strategies to help it substantively improve its positive impact. For example, we’ll work to equip a company with resources to become a better employer, enhance job quality and recruit and retain great employees, all of which can both create great jobs and help a business grow and succeed. Our Social Forward Playbook draws on both our experience and that of experts with whom we’ve worked over our careers. Through our Social Forward Playbook, we endeavor to equip companies with the resources and knowledge they need to make an impact. And we believe companies that create great outcomes for people, either their employees, customers, or both, are more likely to win in their markets and make a difference in the world. People, Planet, and Profit: Redefining Success in Business In the real world, conducting business is no longer just about profitability. It’s about creating a harmonious balance between three critical factors: People, Planet, and Profit. Known as the Triple Bottom Line, this framework challenges us to think beyond financial gains and measure success through sustainability and impact. Here’s how businesses can embrace this balanced approach: 1. People: Prioritize the well-being of employees, customers, and communities. Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Support local communities through fair labor practices and corporate social responsibility initiatives. 2. Planet: Commit to environmental sustainability. Implement eco-friendly practices such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and adopting circular economy models. Invest in renewable energy and innovate with sustainable product designs. 3. Profit: Drive financial success responsibly. Focus on long-term growth rather than short-term gains. Align business goals with social and environmental missions to create shared value for all stakeholders. This balance isn’t easy—it requires leadership, innovation, and accountability. But the rewards are immense: stronger brand loyalty, happier employees, and a thriving planet for future generations. As we step into 2025, let’s reflect on how we can redefine business success to truly make a difference. How is your organization aligning with the principles of People, Planet, and Profit? Let’s collaborate, share ideas, and create a sustainable future together. #Sustainability #TripleBottomLine #BusinessEthics #PeoplePlanetProfit #Leadership #FutureOfBusiness

Gone are the days when businesses' sole mission was profit-making! When business owners cared less about the quality of material, process, environment, or human resources injected into the business as long as the money was being made. Nowadays, it is a different ballgame; significant changes driven by globalisation and research have transformed traditional practices in today’s business landscape. While generating profit and satisfying shareholders is still fundamental, there is a growing emphasis on a more holistic approach to business. This includes the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) framework, also referred to as the 3Ps of sustainability, introduced by John Elkington 30 years ago: 📍 Profit— examines a business’s influence on the local and global economy, highlighting its role in employment rate, wealth creation, innovation, and advancement. 📍 People—This focuses on how a business impacts its employees, customers, vendors, and broader communities, emphasising well-being, diversity, inclusion, and equity. 📍Planet—addresses the environmental consequences of a business’s operations, such as air pollution, carbon emissions, resource consumption, and sustainability practices, to reduce any adverse effects on the planet. This framework encourages businesses to measure success not just by their financial bottom line but also by their social and environmental impact. While generating profit is still crucial, companies are also responsible for contributing positively to society and safeguarding our planet for future generations. Studies show that embracing the TBL approach encourages innovation, fosters customer loyalty, and can increase revenue by appealing to a growing demographic of conscious consumers. It creates a positive workplace culture where employees feel valued and aligned with a greater purpose, ultimately enhancing retention and productivity, among other benefits to our environment. So, Dear HR and business leaders, it's time for some self-reflection: Does your organisation stand for more than profit? Are you actively contributing to the well-being of your community and the environment? Together, we can work towards a more sustainable future. #TripleBottomLine #Sustainability #HRLeadership

In business, the constant drive for growth and innovation can lead to short-term thinking and burnout. To manage this sustainably, focus on long-term strategic goals, emphasize corporate social responsibility, and invest in employee well-being. Encourage innovation by tolerating risk and failure, and align business goals with societal and environmental objectives. This balanced approach can achieve lasting impact and maintain healthy growth, creating value for all stakeholders. #BusinessGrowth #Sustainability #Innovation

Intangible Assets: Social Risks and Impact as Ultimate Value Drivers Did you know that 90% of the S&P 500’s market value now comes from intangible assets? These include intellectual property, brand equity, reputation, and human capital—assets that are inherently socially driven. Intangible assets are uniquely sensitive to social risks and positive social impact: 1️⃣ Easily Impaired by Social Risks: Missteps in areas like labor rights, workplace safety, or supply chain ethics can rapidly erode intangible value. A reputational crisis—whether due to a diversity scandal, unsafe working conditions, or a community impact failure—can lead to significant financial loss, regulatory scrutiny, and damaged stakeholder trust. 2️⃣ Value Enhancement Through Positive Social Impact: Companies that demonstrate leadership in areas like employee well-being, equitable practices, and community development often see their brand value and stakeholder loyalty surge. These social factors increasingly influence consumer choices and investor confidence. Intangible assets are the backbone of modern corporate value—and they thrive or falter based on how social risks are managed. #SocialImpact #ESG #RiskManagement #Sustainability #CorporateValue
