One of the services we provide for therapists who join our community is referral network development. This is because in our field the importance of a robust referral network cannot be overstated. Whether you're looking to get or give referrals, having a strong network is crucial for both professional growth and ensuring clients find the help they need. One of our favorite relationship building approaches is to connect 1:1 with people for coffee, lunch, etc. This can be virtual or in-person, but it's just taking the time to learn about each other's vision, goals, and needs. Realistically, not everyone has time for 1:1 meetings with everyone in the Valley! So, we're interested in hearing from you. What are the most effective strategies you've found for strengthening your referral pipeline? How do you ensure you're not just another easily forgotten person in a list of contacts? #BehavioralHealth #ReferralNetwork #MentalHealthProfessionals #ProfessionalGrowth #CommunitySupport #Therapists #Counselors #Psychologists #SocialWorkers

Here are some suggestions for staying connected and cultivating meaningful connections: 1. Join a club or group: Find a community with shared interests. Whether it's a book club, sports team, or hobby group, engaging in activities you enjoy can help you meet new people and build connections. 2. Make time for friends and family: Prioritize spending quality time with loved ones. Plan regular outings, dinners, or virtual hangouts. Connection with those closest to us provides a sense of belonging and support. 3. Volunteer or get involved in your community: Contributing to a cause you care about not only helps others but also connects you with like-minded individuals who share your passion. It's a win-win for your well-being and the community. 4. Practice active listening: When engaging in conversations, be fully present and attentive. Show genuine interest and empathy towards others. Active listening fosters understanding and deepens relationships. 5. Reach out and stay in touch: Don't hesitate to initiate contact with friends, family, or acquaintances. So important to support research into work health and safety and employment generally.
Thank you to all those who've already shared, any more support to keep sharing this with networks in W.A. greatly appreciated. I'm hoping people in my network can help me please. I'm recruiting participants for my PhD research, however, noone who has worked with me as a colleague / employee / client is eligible, therefore I am looking to share the invitation beyond my own networks to find eligible participants. To be eligible participants must: •Have been employed in Western Australia at any point between December 2022 and currently (at the time of the interview) •Be aged 18+ •Have never worked with Natasha (Tasha) Broomhall or Blooming Minds as a client, employee or colleague. Natasha (Tasha) Broomhall is the founder and Director of Blooming Minds, a company which provides mental health training in workplaces All of the information, including how to register interest is on the image. Thank you for any help you can provide.

A lot of people are constantly asking me “What are you studying?” for those who do not know, I am studying Recreational Therapy (RT). The common response following this question is “What is that?”. RT is a form of treatment therapy that is designed to restore, remediate, and rehabilitate a person’s level of functioning and independence through the use of leisure-based activities in order to promote health and wellness. My interest in pursuing this degree stems from my mother as she too is a recreational therapist. As you can see in the picture, growing up I was constantly around and learning about the field. Now, from a child’s viewpoint all she did was “play games” which is a common assumption that many people believe to be true after first learning about the profession. While the activities we preform are often considered to be fun, each activity is specifically chosen to achieve an assessed goal to ensure that these individuals are able to increase their enjoyment in life and their overall well-being. I intend to use this to create change in the ways that society views addiction as well. My ultimate goal is to use recreational therapy to empower individuals and to help break the stigma associated with substance use recovery. By showcasing how RT promotes recovery and emotional growth and providing these individuals with the tools necessary to take control of their lives, I feel I will be able to contribute to the change in how society views recovery. Advocacy for Recreational Therapy is essential because it helps raise awareness about how impactful this field truly is! RT isn’t just about ‘fun’ activities; it’s a powerful tool that enhances people’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. By promoting RT, we’re giving a voice to those who benefit from this therapy by helping people regain independence, manage stress, and find joy in life. The more people understand RT, the more we can expand access to these life-changing services! Let’s spread the word and elevate the importance of #RecreationalTherapy. #RTAdvocacy #HealingThroughLeisure #TherapeuticRecreation #MentalHealthMatters #HealingThroughLeisure #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealth #RecoveryJourney

Three months ago I wasn't on LinkedIn -- or any social media. I was wary of the experience. I started by connecting with someone safe (thanks to my wife), then some old school chums. Given my interests (PTSD, treating vets, police officers, medical staff and sleep issues) I began contacting relevant others. To my surprise everyone was friendly, kind, considerate and helpful. Offers poured in (come visit our lab, lets have coffee, when you're in Perth let me know) and there was a great sense of collaboration, unlike many conferences that I have attended. In the space of 90 days I have had the privilege of connecting with individuals and organizations doing world class work. I've met courageous police officers from Melbourne to Toronto. Firefighters changing the ethos of their work environment for their colleagues. PTSD researchers from Stanford to Stockholm. Physicians taking on the extra task of helping their colleagues, because the employer would not. Many organizations fully committed to helping veterans. Lived experience stories that were inspirational (thanks Officer B). Too much to list. It's been a paradigm shift for me. I now have colleagues from Tasmania to Timbuktu (well not really but the Tasmania part is true). My resource network has expanded infinitely. I think I've been able to be of some assistance to others and I know they've helped me - not just in providing content but in providing a network that is ever so useful. So, thanks to those who've connected with me. I've learned that a bigger network in this case is really a better network. #SocialNetworking #SocialConnection #PowerOfConnection

While online therapy has expanded accessibility, in-person therapy remains the gold standard for fostering deeper emotional connections and engagement. The tangible elements—like commuting reflection time, non-verbal cues, and direct eye contact—enhance the therapeutic experience, creating a sense of immediacy and intimacy that screens can’t fully replicate. Both formats have value, but whenever possible, in-person sessions provide unmatched opportunities for personal growth and emotional exploration. This is a meaningful reminder that how we connect matters as much as the content of the connection. 💡 #TherapyMatters #MentalHealthSupport #InPersonConnection
