A: Southern Europe which includes Spain, Italy & Greece with Bob W in top cities like Madrid, Milan, Florence & Athens. Q: You've got 24hrs in Madrid, what are the must see places and things to do in the city? A: Start the day by exercising in El Retiro Park to appreciate the beauty of nature and different gardens in this park, the glass palace and the big pond with ducks. Grab a specialty coffee at Martín Tostador, and a top notch pastry at Novomundo (near Puerta de Toledo) or Estela Hojaldre (Barrio de las Letras) while appreciating the beauty of the Madrilian architecture walking by its beautiful streets. Visiting to El Prado Museum is a must, or for a more authentic local experience, visit the Reina Sofia Museum. Then, make sure to enjoy the typical aperitivo time with a Vermouth: a very typical Madrilian drink made of aromatised wine that has been flavoured with a blend of herbs and spices. At Casa Camacho you can try many different kinds of Vermouths, including their most famous one the Yayo: Vermouth with Gin. Then, into the city for tapas: Casa Labra is very good, and famous for its cod and croquetas, Ostras Pedrin for oysters and raw bar, Marcelino Ultraporcinos for wine, jamón and cheese tasting as well as other typical Spanish embutidos (cold meat / iberic products). Then get lost wandering the Malasaña Streets, head to the Royal Palace and Templo de Debod at sunset, it's a truly magical spot! Q: What about a local secret, the place that's the hidden gem? A: The Library at the Senado. It is a neo-Gothic style library enclosure that is located in the Upper Chamber of the Senate, in the building in the Plaza de la Marina Española. Consistency is more important than intensity. It used to amaze me how month, quarter, and year-end periods seemed to transform the behaviour of sales teams with sometimes a significant proportion of business being closed on the last day. Having just experienced my first Q end with Peninsula Ireland , I’m energised at how the priority of all the teams around our business was on continuing to deliver an outstanding service to our customers and that this remained the first and foremost focus. Intensity is still welcome, but consistency is king! #consistency #sales #customerfocus

The commercial attaché looked at me, stunned, “You may be the toughest man I have every met” She didn’t mean it as a compliment I had an appointment set with a senior official in an Asian market. The US commercial attaché was coming with me. When we arrived, several people were gathered in a room. The official was not there. Another, lower ranking official, who I knew was not able to make a decision and I knew would not have the pain points of my customer, introduced himself. “Please present to me, I will take notes and present to my boss”. I said no. He looked like we might have a small misunderstanding in the language. He repeated himself. I said, “no, I can wait. I came this far,I will wait to speak to the official. I had a meeting set, I will wait until she is free”. Everyone was shocked. There was a flurry of discussions. The room emptied;tea was brought. After a while, the official came in and we discussed the problems she faced and if we could help her solve those problems. She had the problems, they were serious, I had the solution. We could find a way to do business. In the car to the airport, the attaché said to me, “I can’t believe you did that”. I said. “If I had presented to the assistant without discussing the problems that they have and if I can solve them, we would have no chance of a deal” #globalsalesmentor #internationalsales #sales
