I'm often met with blank stares when I tell non-industry people that one of the things I work on is the future of #hydrogen. Just a few years ago, it was even a weird topic for many #utility employees to discuss because it didn't quite look like other common components they were already analyzing and modeling, such as power generators, transmission lines, batteries, EV charging and distributed renewables. Due to this, I'm always on the search for videos and other types of content that hit the mark on explaining what we are aiming for and why in a way that can be understood by a diverse audience, like the video below from CNBC. (Note: Industry people may immediately react to the over simplification here, but I encourage you to focus more on how they tell their story in a way people can understand it.) What needs to happen to allow hydrogen to scale? That’s what Bill Gates and members of the Energy Resilience Leadership Group were discussing at their recent visit to our Berlin hydrogen centre. Really enjoyed Colin Pritchard talking at Hydrogen Industry Leaders today about the hold ups and his prejudices in the Hydrogen sector. 'Everybody is very quick to throw stones at the technology out there. There's not a single technology I can't throw stones at. The answer is that we just need to crack on!" There isn't a single silver bullet technology that doesnt have its floors. Combined however, we do have the answers for a net zero system. UK Government need to commit and move forward before the Hydrogen Industry Leaders in the UK move elsewhere.

There is intensifying debate around the pathway to net zero. Policy clarity, policy consistency, and policy certainty are important to provide a stable environment for investment by companies and financial investors. But inconsistencies in policy approaches have impacted sector confidence to scale new technologies.
