But what happens when they don't feel heard or valued? 😔 📉 When trust is lacking, persons may not communicate openly, miss appointments, or skip medications, all of which can harm their health. So, how can we change this? 💬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. Truly listening to persons, understanding their concerns, and making them feel heard can transform the experience. On this Doctors Day, let's celebrate the profound impact of doctors and healthcare professionals worldwide. Our greatest reward is the relief and joy we bring to patients, treating them with unwavering empathy, respect, and confidentiality. Our commitment extends far beyond daily wardrounds, rooted in the trust our patients place in us. So to my esteemed colleagues: Let's amplify our impact through free health education and health promotion initiatives. Using digital platforms, community outreach, and targeted campaigns, we can address critical health issues. Also advocacy on healthy lifestyle such as; >> Promoting regular exercise of at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week. >> Encouraging smoking cessation and excessive alcohol consumption >> Emphasizing good personal and environmental hygiene practices. >> Advocating for proper nutrition like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats. >> Spend quality time with family and friends >> Stay hydrated and sleep adequately for 7-9 hours >> Regular health check ups for general and recommended health screening. These efforts, combined with our clinical expertise, will transform clinical and public health outcomes. As we navigate healthcare's complexities, let's celebrate our successes and tackle challenges head-on. Acronyms are a cloud over your meaning. Do you want to communicate clearly? Then rethink your catchy phrases please. :) Louise Stait here says that brilliantly with some fun examples.
I recently saw a soap dispenser branded as “Public Health Surrey”. No, not really - it just said “PHS” which is presumably a brand name - but that’s how my brain read it in the moment. Our brains LOVE heuristics (mental shortcuts) and can gravitate to them before we know it! People often say you shouldn’t use unexplained acronyms because the reader might not know what they mean. But here’s another risk: the reader might THINK they know what an acronym means, because it already means something else familiar to them. I was in a meeting recently where someone was talking about EBD. My brain initially translated this as “Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties”, but I then started to realise that it didn’t make sense in the context. In fact the person was talking about Experience-Based Design. The discussion was about quality improvement in hospitals, so that the (wrong) first interpretation did seem to make some kind of vague sense initially. Similarly, the associations between hand washing and public health were enough to make my crude, instantaneous reading of “PHS” seem plausible for a moment (even though it was miles from Surrey!) And the scariest or weirdest thing about this PHS story? I’m not sure that PHS is even a "real" acronym that Public Health Surrey formally use. It’s actually a personal, made-up shorthand that I use for work-related note-taking when needed. So who knows what random things people are hearing or seeing when they encounter any given acronym! Do you have any other examples . . . ? 😊

Whether you live close to the Functional Health Clinic (Newcastle upon Tyne), or you live elsewhere in the World - we've integrated the online/distance/video/tele coaching into our programs. Some modalities such as Functional Medicine and Nutrition can be delivered seamlessly in this format. It's essentially a discussion, with the added benefit of all resources and test reports being accessible via a computer/device. Whilst a modality like 'Movement' is not quite a perfect match for online, it can still be effectively coached. As for the hands-on Bodywork, that's the one modality that we really need to see you physically in the clinic space for. So what ever level of Support Program you are on we have the most effective and applicable modalities in place and then teach you everything we know! If you have any questions about our Health Restoration Program and how it could help you please let us know. With respect to Outsmart Don't Outspend, is the trend your friend? 📶 With an estimated 50-75% of patient flow stimulated by either Friends & Family or Medical referrals, what does your Practice's self-assessment reveal? 🔍 Do you consistently earn favorable results in these 2 essential realms ❓ Specifically, what is your current 1-10 (is best) ranking for: 📈 2024's Friends & Family Referrals to date? 📈 2024's Medical Referrals to date? If you are setting the Gold Standard, congratulations! 🌟 8-9 on each equates to 16-18 out of a possible 20, keeping in mind there is NO such thing as a perfect 10. ⚠ In our deep experience, these kinds of impressive results are rare.
