Registration is now open for Docet's October webinar Common Corneal Conditions – What every optometrist needs to know! This one-hour webinar, funded by Docet and managed by the College of Optometrists, looks at common corneal conditions encountered in community practice that require monitoring, management or referral by optometrists. Prof Sai Kolli will cover the pathology, signs and symptoms, investigation, and management of conditions such as keratoconus and Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy. Optometrists will receive guidance on which patients need to be referred, which are appropriate for monitoring or management in the community and the impact of any of these conditions when referring patients for treatment such as cataract and refractive surgery. This webinar is targeted towards community optometrists so they can improve their confidence identifying and managing patients with these conditions. At the end of the presentation, Prof Kolli will answer some of the live questions raised during his talk. This webinar is available to fully qualified GOC registered optometrists practising in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Please note that from 30 September 2024 Docet CPD resources are no longer available to optometrists practising only in Scotland. "This was great to remind practitioners of the importance of good record keeping and being as transparent as possible with patients, as this creates a trusting bond. Nice presentation with some very good case studies that we have all encountered at some point.” Attendee Docet webinar 'Leadership is not hierarchical: Learning from OCCS complaints' Click here to register for the webinar and gain 1 interactive CPD point - https://lnkd.in/dnXjat5R #optometry #optometrist #optometryCPD #freeCPD

"👁️ While cases like white mature Cataract present unique challenges, the immediate joy and satisfaction of our patients post-op are simply priceless. As caregivers, witnessing such transformative outcomes fills us with immense happiness and fulfillment. it is a journey of restoring vision and changing lives! and here another Round with #ChatGPT: White mature cataracts present unique challenges during surgery due to their dense and opaque nature, which can make it difficult to visualize the structures within the eye. Some of the challenges include: 1. Limited Visualization: The dense opacity of the cataract can obstruct the surgeon's view, making it harder to accurately assess and manipulate the affected lens. 2. Increased Risk of Complications: White mature cataracts are often associated with weaker and more fragile lens capsules, increasing the risk of intraoperative complications such as capsule rupture or posterior capsular opacification. 3. Capsular Integrity: Maintaining the integrity of the lens capsule is crucial during surgery to support the intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and ensure optimal visual outcomes. 4. Inflammation and Swelling: Due to the increased manipulation required to remove the dense cataract, there is a higher likelihood of postoperative inflammation and corneal swelling, which can affect visual recovery. To address these challenges, surgeons may employ specialized techniques such as phacoemulsification with careful energy modulation to break up and remove the dense cataract fragments. Additionally, intraoperative devices like capsular tension rings or hooks may be used to support the weakened lens capsule and prevent complications. Despite the challenges, successful surgery can lead to significant improvements in vision and quality of life for patients. The satisfaction of patients post-op is often very high, as they experience a dramatic improvement in their visual acuity and overall functioning. #Ophthalmology #CataractSurgery #FLACS #Femto #Z8 Ziemer Ophthalmology (Deutschland) GmbH Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems #PatientCare"#microRec Custom Surgical #AI #Chatgpt Medizentrum Eckert
