Calling all Finnish startups in the built environment sector! We’re announcing a new initiative in collaboration with Urban Tech Helsinki and the KIRA-kasvuohjelma aimed at strengthening partnerships between innovative startups and major players, including cities, large companies, and public entities. 🔍 To make this impactful, we want to hear from you! We’re gathering insights on the challenges startups face when collaborating and doing business with larger organizations in Finland. Your experiences and perspectives are essential to shaping meaningful solutions. [Take the survey from the comments!] 🏙️ For large companies in this ecosystem, we’re also looking to define 3-7 specific challenges – from urban planning to construction and the enhancement of built environment services. These challenges will guide the creation of collaboration models with startups, and we’re looking for cities, public entities, and large companies to become “owners” of these challenges and drive change together. The Estonian startup Willuwalk, which supports parents returning to work, has taken its first significant steps toward the Swedish market thanks to the Northbound Scaleups (NBSCALE) project, a collaboration between Tehnopol, Turku Science Park (Finland), and Movexum (Sweden). Live from the heart of #TelAviv at #EuroDays, where the focus turns to the cities that define our ecosystems and the potential they hold for startups like ours. Today, I had the privilege of hearing insights from Jan Riepl of the @Vienna Business Agency, Gil Baxpehler KölnBusiness – the Economic Development Agency of Cologne of the International Startup Unit in Cologne, and Friedemann Lotz from ICT Berlin GmbH Partner. Their dedication to nurturing startups and facilitating growth in their respective cities is not just admirable but essential for the tech community. At PlaceSense, we've been closely working with municipalities across Germany, offering them a city monitor that enhances urban management and decision-making. The enthusiasm and effort these cities invest in attracting and supporting Israeli startups with cutting-edge technology are truly inspiring. It's clear they're not just offering a space; they're providing a thriving ecosystem where startups can flourish. A special nod to Gil Baxpehler, with whom I've had the pleasure of interacting before. His guidance and support have been incredibly valuable. To my fellow Startup CEOs looking to expand your horizons in Europe, I highly recommend reaching out to these leaders. They're genuinely committed to helping us succeed. Jan, Gil, and Friedmann shed light on the unique advantages of their cities - from Cologne's innovation-driven ethos to Vienna's supportive startup programs and Berlin's dynamic tech ecosystem. Their cities are not just locations but gateways to Europe's vast market and opportunities. As we navigate the complexities of expanding our businesses, it's heartening to know that there are dedicated professionals in Vienna, Cologne, and Berlin ready to help us make that leap. Let's take advantage of these opportunities to grow our businesses and strengthen the ties between our ecosystems. #EuroDays #TechEcosystems #StartupGrowth #PlaceSense #InnovationAcrossBorders

I am now at the airport, excited to join our partner Evolution | Innovation Forward for their 20th anniversary celebration! I’m honored to be invited to host a panel discussion where we will dive into some critical and inspiring topics: - Public vs private funding: When is the EIC the right funding choice, and what other options are out there for startups? How should founders approach the tricky balance between public and private funding? - Competitive landscape: How can European startups compete with the massive scale, and subsidies, of China and the more permissive regulatory landscape of the US? Specifically addressing the complexities of CAPEX for clean-tech startups and the unique challenges they face compared to other sectors. - The future of European startups: What is Europe doing to retain its startups and prevent talent migration to the US, especially for Southern European countries? How can we build an attractive market for start-ups in Europe? I’m eager to dive into these questions and more, connect with everyone, exchange ideas, and spark some truly interesting discussions!

Is the DACH region the only startup ecosystem worth watching? That's what we tried to solve with START Berlin a month ago in Amsterdam! 🌍✨Here's what we learned. 🤠 We dove into the heart of the Amsterdam startup ecosystem, and the journey was nothing short of inspiring. 🚀 Our first stop was Startupbootcamp, a global accelerator that's shaping the future of startups not just in the Netherlands but worldwide. 👉Their insights into the Dutch ecosystem and its role in Europe were enlightening. Then, we connected with Tulip Ventures, ASIF Ventures, and students of Codam College, engaging deeply with students and recent graduates who've transitioned into investors. 👉It's inspiring to discover more communities passionate about the same things as START Berlin outside the START Network. But the momentum didn't stop there. 👉Riverty, with its approach to debt collection and "buy now, pay later" services, introduced a new perspective on ethical business practices and competing with a startup turned grownup (K.😉) from a corporate perspective. 👉And Alleo, an HR tech startup, was particularly striking. Witnessing HR tech outside Germany with its peculiar labor market problems was profoundly insightful. Our trip continued with visits to Rubio Impact Ventures and Fortino Capital. 👉Rubio's office, with its direct zoo access, was a standout, but the discussions on their approach to impact investing truly captivated me (they started impact investing 8 years ago!!). 👉Fortino had a beautiful office in one of the nicest neighborhoods, but learning how their focus on B2B software shapes their business was the true takeaway. Celebrating King's Day was the cherry on top of an unforgettable trip. 🥰 But beyond the festivities, the learnings from this ecosystem tour were invaluable. Amsterdam's startup scene seems to thrive, and the spirit of innovation and collaboration is something I'll carry with me. What ecosystem do you recommend visiting to challenge our DACH-centric views? 😄 #StartupEcosystem #Innovation #AmsterdamAdventure
