Armed with a modest degree and a heart brimming with ambition, I had landed my first job as a Sales Executive at 99acres in Hyderabad. It wasn’t glamorous, but for me, it was a stepping stone toward something greater. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟭: 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 When I first stepped into my role as a Sales Executive, it wasn’t the grand dream I had envisioned after my 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗕𝗔. The pay was modest, the hours were long, and the work was relentless. My days were a blur of cold calls, door-to-door visits, and product pitches to skeptical clients. Most of my colleagues approached the job as a routine, a means to an end. But I saw it differently. To me, this role wasn’t just a job—it was an opportunity, a platform to prove my worth. I knew I wasn’t the smartest or the most experienced in the room, but what I lacked in experience, I made up for with my unmatched determination and hunger to succeed. “𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 ‘𝗻𝗼’ 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 ‘𝘆𝗲𝘀,’ I would remind myself after a day full of rejections. Instead of being disheartened, I saw every failure as a lesson and every small win as a step forward. My evenings were spent analyzing my conversations, finding ways to refine my pitch, and studying sales strategies to outpace the competition. Inspired by the story of Dhirubhai Ambani, who built Reliance Industries from scratch, I reminded myself daily: “𝑺𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏’𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕. 𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕, 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝒂𝒕 𝒂 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆.” Within months, my managers noticed something different about me—𝒎𝒚 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆. I didn’t just meet my targets; I shattered them. I wasn’t just doing my job; I was innovating. When the company needed someone to lead a struggling region, I volunteered.

And in fact it needs a vision and courage to travel (for business) to the locations or places where there is no settled business, leads or channel partners because you need to start from somewhere. Sales demand two separate activities parallel; #One, To handle the existing sales, leads, partners; and #Two, To explore new geographic areas and to penetrate more in the existing geographic areas too. It is always recommended to grow in a vertical and horizontal as well or else in the long run no growth will be happening. Taking that first step and putting efforts into the raw areas are painful but someday this pain would get converted into good things. Sales is easy, but difficult is to make a foundation for the future business and sales, and this is the reason why most sales-people are only comfortable and dependent on the leads and orders provided by them through an autonomous system of sales and revenue generation. And the people who like to dig their own well for the thirst, will never go out of the water ever. Give your 100% or leave the race. Stay hungry.
