They are charged with steering companies through crises, setting long-term strategy, and safeguarding stakeholder interests. Yet two persistent issues undermine their effectiveness: the revolving door of high-profile board appointments and the gap between proclaimed accountability and actual responsibility.' #governance #boardofdirectors #corporations #accountability

A diverse and inclusive Board of Directors fosters better decision-making, oversight, and governance, particularly during challenging times, resulting in improved performance. This was determined by the Institute of Corporate Directors PH (ICD) in a study of all active publicly listed companies (PLCs) registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission from 2019 to 2021, which showed a clear and positive correlation between a company’s Return on Equity (ROE) and the PLC boards' diversity in gender, expertise, and age. So yes, gender is important, but so is age and expertise. Read on to learn more about the study and the Board Diversity Index Tool. #ICDSupportsBoardDiversity
