Honoring Our Heroes......... As Mashujaa Day comes to an end, I want to take a moment to celebrate all the shujaas of Kenya—those who have fallen and those still with us. These heroes have worked tirelessly to liberate our country, Kenya, in countless ways—creating peace, fighting for our freedom, and standing up for our rights. Today, we honor them for their bravery and sacrifice. But heroes aren’t only found in history books- they are all around us. I also take this moment to celebrate the unsung heroes in our lives—the people who make a difference in small but powerful ways. And yes, I’m proud to acknowledge myself as a Shujaa too, for the roles I play in the lives of others. Whether it's offering support, sharing knowledge, or simply being there for someone in need, every act matters. After a long week of heavy commitments, it feels right to pause and reflect on what being a hero really means—showing up for others, striving to make a positive impact, and contributing to a peaceful Kenya. As we move forward, I encourage all of us to continue doing what we do best—helping others, spreading kindness, and building a better, more peaceful country. "A hero is someone who has given their life to something bigger than themselves." Let’s all strive to be heroes in our own way, no matter how small the gesture. What role are you playing in creating a better Kenya? #MashujaaDay #KenyaHeroes #CelebratingShujaas #PeaceAndFreedom #MakeADifference #SupportEachOther

We talk about this today and we condemned what they did to us. But are we saying about what the #Chinese are doing to us today. What the #Chinese are doing to us today, is it any different from what happened to us many years ago, perpetrated by the West. This time round we are doing it voluntarily and not giving to the West, but to the Chinese and I heard Russians are also trooping in, but their presence is not being felt yet. And you ask yourself what is wrong with us #Africans. Can we not stop the stealing and develop this nation ourselves? The support that the #Chinese are getting from their country, just give quarter of that support to your indigenous business owners and see how they can turn your country around. This is what is happening now. A Chinese comes to town, and you might have already negotiated for your land from the original owners and started your business. Chinese comes to establish his or her business near you, then he thinks he has entitlement more than you. The business you are doing as an indigenous citizen, he or she starts doing the same business. After sometime, the Chinese would rather want you out of the area, so that they the #Chinese can control the entire area and the business. They then team up with the indigenous that you negotiated the land from, and because they are all controlled by the same spirits, they work to kick you out. And one wonder if one is dreaming or fully awake. This is happening in your own Africa country and not their f****ck country #China. They want to dominate, They want to control everybody and everything, and our leaders are just letting them in and saying YES YES to everything they want because they go with cup in hand begging them for little monies they can generate in their own country if they could be a little prudent. How did #China make it? How did #Dubai become what it is today? Did they develop buy selling everything to foreigners? The selling off our dignity, our pride to others for peanut #MustStopNow. All these are happening because their government is always giving money to your government as loan. For these monies #AfricaGovernment take from the #ChineseGovernment instead of protecting their indigenous businesses and the citizens, they rather sell them out to these #Chinese on silver platter. And if #Chinese want something, they just want it irrespective of who is occupying the space. They play this game with the full backing from their government. They employ all kinds unorthodox means and tactics to get rid of you which includes torture, manipulations, etc. #Africa when will you learn to be independent and depend on your rich #AfricaMinerals that God has endowed you with? God gave #Africans these minerals free without asking for a dim. No one can change #Africa except the #Africans themselves. So if an #African has a dream, support that dream to mature as an #AfricanGovernment. #WakeUpAfrica #StopThePullHerDown #WakeUpAfricaNations #WakeUpAfricaGovernment
📍This happened in Kenya 🇰🇪, not too long ago. The Mau Mau Uprising stands as a crucial chapter in Kenya's history, stemming from oppressive British colonial policies that inflicted land expropriation, displacement, and egregious human rights violations upon the Kikuyu people. Spanning from 1895 to 1963, British colonialism in Kenya perpetuated the confiscation of ancestral lands from the indigenous Kikuyu population, subjecting them to forced labor, displacement, rap£ and impoverishment. Emerging in the 1950s, the Mau Mau movement symbolized a resistance against British colonial dominance, led by the revered Dedan Kimathi, a Field Marshal and spiritual guide, with aspirations for land reform, self-governance, and autonomy. Labeling the Mau Mau movement as a terrorist entity, the British authorities resorted to establishing concentration camps from 1953 to 1959, detaining a staggering 700,000-1,000,000 Kikuyu individuals, where widespread torture, forced labor, and extrajudicial killings were rampant. The atrocities committed during this period were harrowing, encompassing systematic torture, including heinous acts like castration and rape, alongside forced displacements, family separations, summary executions, and disappearances. Eventually, Mau Mau fighters were rightfully acknowledged as heroes in Kenya's fight for independence, with Dedan Kimathi embodying a national emblem of resilience and liberation, culminating in Kenya's independence. #history #black #blackhistory #kenya #africa #blackhistorymonth

Today in 1888, Brazil abolished slavery.⠀ - Slavery in #Brazil began as early as the 1500s when Portuguese colonists decided that exploiting African labour, rather than the labour of Indigenous people, was more practical. Indigenous people either fell ill from foreign diseases or resisted enslavement.⠀ -⠀ By 13 May 1888 when slavery ended, millions of Africans had been captured and transported to Brazil. Brazil accounted for 40% of the total number of enslaved Africans taken to the Americas. Brazil had the largest single population of enslaved Africans in any colony in the Americas. -⠀ Most of the Africans worked on sugar and coffee plantations or in gold and diamond mines. The rest were sent to serve households in big cities and build public infrastructure.⠀ ____________ 📷: Africans harvest coffee in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, c. 1882” Photo: Marc Ferrez, Instituto Moreira Salles

However, these narratives obscured the reality: colonization primarily served European economic and political interests, leading to exploitation, cultural erasure, and long-term harm across the continent. The idea of "saving" was used as a moral cover for actions that deeply disrupted African societies and economies, and whose impacts are still felt today.

Happy Africa Day! Today we celebrate this beautiful and diverse continent of ours ❤️. In the past I have shared some fun facts about Africa. This year I decided to compile and share a few (there are thousands) African proverbs that are no doubt food for thought: 1. However far a stream flows, it doesn’t forget its origin. 2. If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try spending the night with a mosquito. 3. By the time the fool has learned the game, the players have dispersed. 4. It takes a village to raise a child. 5. When two elephants fight, it is the grass that gets hurt. 6. The old woman looks after the child to grow its teeth and the young one in turn looks after the old woman when she loses her teeth. 7. Home affairs are not talked about on the public square. 8. Don’t think there are no crocodiles just because the water is calm. 9. A fool has to say something. A wise person has something to say. 10. Wood already touched by fire is not hard to set alight. 11. Knowledge is a garden. If it isn’t cultivated, you can’t harvest it. 12. To try and to fail is not laziness. 13. Ears that do not listen to advice, accompany the head when it is chopped off. 14. If you are going to live by the river, make friends with the crocodile. 15. A person is a person because of other people. #africa #africaday #celebrate #proverbs #wisdom

In 1991, Belarus became independent from the Soviet Union, but it has remained under Russia’s influence. In 1986, the Chernobyl disaster occurred in Ukraine, which affected Belarus more severely than any other country leaving it with significant environmental and human devastation. Today, 1.7 million children live in poverty with 500,000 children living in contaminated zones, which brings unbelievable suffering as many are born with genetic defects. The country has many orphans and children living in dysfunctional families where there are issues such as alcoholism or drugs. Bible Society has a long-standing ministry to orphanages, boarding schools, and hospitals where it provides children’s Scriptures including Bibles, New Testaments, and portions to vulnerable children. --- This Bible Mission update is an excerpt from our latest Bible a Month Regular Giving Members' Report. Discover how you can launch a global mission from the comfort of your living room by supporting a new Bible project in a different country each month - www.bibleamonth.nz . . #BibleMission #Bibles #God #BibleSocietyNZ #MannaNZ #Hope #MannaChristianStores #MannaCommunity
