At the 2024 First #Robotics World Championships, 50,000 gathered for hybrid #AI/Human international competition. It’s an ideal place to think about the future of humanity and #technology. The competition is designed to push the limits of what machines and people can do together. Neither can be successful without the other. The rules allow for outstanding creativity and strategy. The context of competition evolves during the match. Timing matters. The same action under different circumstances scores more points. Like the real world, victory requires collaboration. You can even score by taking a risk and collaborating with your opponents. In the qualifying matches, competitors are ranked individually but compete in alliances composed of randomly selected groups of three. Since you never know who you may be working with, you need basic all-around skills to complement your core strengths. In the finals, the winners take turns choosing alliance members to strategically compose a competitive advantage. In the end, it is all about skill, strategy, execution, and perhaps a little luck. It’s outstanding to realize that this is what kids are doing today for sport.
