As we gear up for the new academic year and more lessons at VTCL, our tribal school abutting Bandipur forest, it is a fulfilling sight to see little children drink Ragi Malt as their everyday morning ritual. The correlation between our tribal school's attendance and the midday meals served to the students goes way back. Three decades ago when the school started, it used to be the biggest reason for parents to bring their children to school. It still is one of the reasons for students to come and we are happy that there are many more adding to school admission, attendance and retention like the addition of a school bus that brings students from over 15 tribal hamlets ensuring all weather transportation. This year, day scholars of VTCL (Montessori — 5th std) have come back to school in big numbers. Nearly 97% of the children are back to school within the first 2 weeks of the academic year. The daily attendance has also crossed 85% within this period (attendance above 80% for this age group may be considered good). Click to read the full article - https://lnkd.in/gHkFV3ae Much of this progress has been possible with the support of the students, parents and donors (institutional and individual). We thank our partner Feeding India for supporting us in nourishing the ambitions of VTCL students. 278 VTCL students, out of which nearly half are girls, are supported by our partner Feeding India. #FeedingIndia #DailyFeedingProgramFI #ChildNutrition #vtcl #tribaleducation #equitableeducation

We’re proud to support the establishment of Regional Care Cooperatives (RCCs) as the Department for Education’s delivery partner. In his latest article, David Fairhurst looks at why it is the right time for the programme and what it is seeking to achieve. Since April 2024, we have been working with Greater Manchester and the South East regions to bring this vision to life. Each region has an ambition to address their local challenges in the children’s care placement market and we have supported them to build a programme to design and deliver their own RCC. Their RCCs will support local areas to provide enough loving homes that meet their children’s needs in the right place, at the right time. The Learning Zone Model effectively communicates how we operate at OCEM. Our goal? To get SEMH children out of the panic zone and into places where they can actually learn and feel comfortable — right into the learning and comfort zones. That’s where real growth happens. Without the right support, these children often get stuck in the panic zone, overwhelmed and stressed because they're pushed too hard, too fast. Our approach is tailored to make each child feel safe, cared for and regulated. Once they’re settled, they're ready to learn and thrive. This doesn’t just set them up for a brighter future; it also eases the load on parents, carers and the system itself. Want the full story on how we make this happen at OCEM? The Ministry of Education has indeed issued an advisory to ensure that children with special needs (CWSN) receive their entitled benefits under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE) and the PM-Poshan scheme. The advisory aims to ensure that CWSN are not denied their rights and benefits, and that schools and authorities take necessary steps to provide inclusive education and support to these children. This is a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and equity in education, and ensuring that all children, regardless of their abilities, have access to quality education and nutrition. #PMPOSHANSCHEME#Ministryofeducation#India#support
