I have spent a lot of time since the election learning from organizers, DEIB experts, and people who are asking a lot of hard questions about what is to come. Consistently, folks are saying the same thing: this round, there are very few ways we can stop things happening on a federal, and maybe even state level. However! The hyper local level is where we can thrive. Where funding is less tied to state and federal money, where we have more freedom to make local decisions based on local needs, people are going to need us to be invested, involved, and engaged more than ever. Make it your goal to provide enough support locally to provide safety nets and barricades for things that will be much harder to control. When you sit down to make New Year’s resolutions, make sure you bring your budget and your schedule. While you work on yourself, how can you also use your gifts and talents to work on your local community? How can you fight back with individuals, families, and smaller, local politics to provide safety and support? Make it a priority, and be engaged in hope and action that will help folks ride out and fight back in the coming storm. For my Grand Rapidians, I challenge you to join Paul Kiger, LMSW, CAADC and I in supporting Affinity Mentoring. Students and families, especially those who are non-white and in our public schools, are going to be hit hard. Your donation of money or time today can be what makes or breaks them. What if the staff, the teachers, the schools, the students, and the families that work with @affinity.mentoring and organizations like it knew you were here to support them? What difference could it make? Don’t hesitate to support today. Make your end of year donations to Affinity and other hyper local organizations today. A lot of you know that I am Art Director for both e-Relationship and Bikes for Kids Foundation | Kids Dreams Matter ... but in case you haven't heard me speak of the 'grow as you go' design (and a bit of illustration) experiences I have encountered / witnessed / enjoyed through the process of creating a series of 16 children's books for the charity — here is where we are now! I'll post a link for donating to this worthy 501-c charity or buying a book(s). EVERY penny goes to kids living below the poverty level. Our goal is to erase generational poverty by helping kids DREAM BIG! Data shows this WILL happen when kids visualize a POSITIVE future and work hard to develop the characteristics necessary to achieve each objective. https://lnkd.in/eA85GZb7

When you hear those of us at NEMICORP talk about "economic mobility," what do we mean and how is it defined? Our partners at the Pew Charitable Trust have defined economic mobility quite accurately. This is the field upon which NEMICORP does battle. This is what we're fighting for - Economic Mobility. Take a look at this definition. https://lnkd.in/ejMc_Hmx

Fundraiser to Supporting the Stuttering Community with Transparency 💙 I’m excited to share that we’ve launched a Stutter Chats t-shirt fundraiser to support the National Stuttering Association (NSA), an incredible organization dedicated to empowering people who stutter. This fundraiser runs from now until January 31st, and we want to be fully transparent about how it works. 🔹 Pricing Breakdown: The cost to produce each t-shirt (through Printful) ranges from $15.20 to $23.20, depending on size. We are selling the shirts for $21.99 to $29.99. For each t-shirt sold, $6.79 will be donated directly to the NSA. 💯 All Profits Go to the NSA: We want to be clear that we are not keeping any profits from this fundraiser. Every dollar beyond production costs — specifically $6.79 per shirt — goes directly to the NSA to help raise awareness, provide resources, and support the stuttering community. This cause is deeply personal to me, and I believe transparency is key in building trust and driving meaningful support. 🛒 If you’d like to contribute, grab a t-shirt here: https://lnkd.in/euK4PyJc Thank you for supporting this mission and helping make a difference. Your support means the world to us! 💙 #StutterChats #NationalStutteringAssociation #StutteringAwareness #Fundraiser #Transparency #CommunitySupport #Nonprofit #GivingBack

The crew at Lectric Ebikes in #Phoenix, #Arizona, have been designing and building some of the most affordable, functional #zeroemission vehicles on the planet for years now. This year, they partnered with Mr. Beast to donate $600,000 worth of e-bikes to people in need across the United States. The challenge with any philanthropic effort is finding the best way to put donor resources into the hands of people who can use them most effectively. Screenshot from Beast Philanthropy’s video linked below. To tackle this head-on, Mr Beast’s philanthropic arm, Beast Philanthropy, put out a call to its massive following, asking people to submit a video communicating their need. They received thousands of videos and filtered that down to 600 people on the internet. From that shortlist, the team at Beast Philanthropy opened the floodgates and the wave of donations started. Some of the #ebikes were delivered by hand while others were shipped directly to the recipients. So many of them posted video responses of them unboxing their bikes, riding them for the first time, or sharing how their new electric bikes would change their lives. It’s a powerful format that shows how singular actions like donating a bike — whether it be new, used, electric, or manual — can absolutely change people’s lives. It can be a simple act of paying for someone’s ticket on the bus or giving someone in need a ride to the store. Working through life one day at a time can sometimes be a slog, and this video was a great reminder to step out of our comfort zones to extend a helping hand whenever we’re able. We don’t often think about people in the #US as having the same level of need as what we hear about from other countries around the world. But as with any society, there are people at the fringes suffering everyday. They struggle to make ends meet whether it be to support their family here in the States or to send the money they earn to their family overseas. Mr. Beast shared a handful of the stories from the massive wave of e-bike donations in the video linked below. It’s a touching story that shows not only how massive corporations like Mr. Beast and Lectric Ebikes can make an impact (and are!), but also how people in each and every one of our communities across the nation and around the world are in need, and how every one of us can take a small step to make a positive impact in the lives of those around us. This particular initiative is especially touching because it not only transforms people’s lives, it puts zero-emission transportation solutions into their hands and enables them to get to school, to work, and to run errands around town with zero emissions in a low-cost, low maintenance electric vehicle that just happens to be a Lectric Ebike. 🔻🔻🔻 Click/tap image below to see video on YouTube 🔻🔻🔻

What is the American Kratom Association? A: a non-profit organization that advocates for the protection and regulation of kratom, a plant-based substance commonly used for its stimulant and pain-relieving effects. The AKA works to protect consumer access to kratom, promote its safe use, and advocate for science-based regulation instead of outright bans. They often engage with lawmakers, provide education on kratom’s benefits and risks, and work to ensure that kratom is sold in a safe and uncontaminated form. Is it worth it for non-profits to invest in 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 even when the ROI is long-term and difficult to measure? The answer is yes! But for that, there should be an understanding that: ⌛ Change that has a vast impact is seldom sudden 💲 Not every win is measurable in dollar signs 😔 Taking risks is necessary, even at the expense of losing a few donors >>> Last week at the UBCM convention, change suddenly happened. Only there was nothing sudden about it. To celebrate UBCM endorsing the resolution to ban the sale and use of glue traps, I am sharing a video we created as part of an 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 on the harms of glue traps. Do you know how glue traps work? #NonprofitMarketing #Education #GlueTraps

In 2024, digital philanthropy is transforming how we support the causes we care about. As a tech enthusiast and someone who wants to make a difference, I've seen how technology can connect our intentions with impact. Online platforms allow everyone to contribute to meaningful causes with a few clicks. However, with this ease comes a responsibility to ensure our donations truly make a difference. I'm passionate about strategic giving—aligning our donations with our personal values and ensuring the organizations we support are transparent, accountable, and effective. I often reflect on the causes that resonate with me and set measurable goals for my contributions. It's about the effectiveness of fund utilization. By using charity evaluators and embracing giving models like donor-advised funds, I feel more confident that my support is having the intended impact. How do you ensure your charitable giving aligns with your values and has a real-world impact? Share your strategies, or let's discuss how we can enhance our giving practices in 2024. Let's remember the importance of continuous learning and connecting with others who give. By staying informed and engaged, we can adapt our strategies and collaborate for a greater impact. Together, let's make 2024 a year of thoughtful, strategic philanthropy. Every contribution, big or small, has the power to change lives. #CharitableGiving #DigitalPhilanthropy #StrategicGiving #PhilanthropyNetwork #ImpactInvesting #MicroDonations #TechForGood
