If you haven’t watched season 2 of Loki, here’s your sign. Who knew a startup would have something in common with a character on the show? 😯 👇🏾This character’s name Ouroboros. He’s a part of the R&A department at the the TVA. He’s named after a Norse myth representing rebirth & regeneration, just like Ouros Industries. 🕰️ The appeal of Loki S2 doesn’t end there though. I was also intrigued by all of the references toward textiles when characters are speaking about time. From the “Fabric of Time” to the “Temporal Loom” we can see the sheer influence that textiles have had in human history. This was first brought to my attention by a book called ‘The Golden Thread’ by Kassia St Clair which explores the history of textiles. 🧵 Textiles have been a fundamental technology in the development of society as we know it today. As humanity has grown, textiles have grown along with us. However, it’s time to rethink what growth looks like in textiles and fashion. A sustainable growth that maximizes the value of every garment that is made. The Fabric of Time is decorated by our collective actions, and as climate change looms, we need to collaborate to create a circular apparel industry that Ouroboros would be proud of. 🙌🏾 #sustainability #circulareconomy #fashionindustry #textiles #LokiS2

The art of weaving Ghongadi shawls is central to the Kuruma and Kuruba pastoral communities of the Deccan Plateau in Telangana and Karnataka. Crafted from resilient Deccani sheep wool, the process involves both men and women. Women card and spin the wool, taking up to 21 days, and add intricate borders over an additional 7 to 10 days. Men handle warping, sizing, and weaving using traditional pit-looms called gunta maggam. Each Ghongadi requires 3-4 kg of wool and about a month to complete. Sizing involves grinding dehusked tamarind seeds into a porridge called ambali, applied to the warp and brushed using an indigenous tool called kuchcha. This process is repeated thrice and left to dry before weaving begins. Ghongadi blankets hold immense cultural significance with their thermoregulation quality, usable year-round. In weddings, brides wear woollen necklaces and grooms don woollen bracelets from Deccani sheep wool, symbolizing the sacredness of Ghongadi. The traditional Ghongadi is vital to the customs, traditions, and culture of these pastoral communities, protecting shepherds from harsh weather and nurturing their legacy. It is essential for births, deaths, weddings, rituals, and festivals in the Kuruma community. Losing Ghongadi would irreparably harm their culture. Despite their importance, Ghongadi weaving faces challenges due to the decline in Deccani sheep and the collapsing wool market, causing many weavers to abandon the craft. However, Earthen Tunes Designs has revived this tradition by using Ghongadi blankets to create shoes for farmers and urban consumers, providing employment to over 10 weaving clusters. This initiative revives the demand for traditional wool and offers sustainable livelihoods to artisans. Earthen Tunes Designs' innovative approach preserves traditional crafts while adapting them to modern needs. By transforming Ghongadi blankets into fashionable and functional footwear, they bridge the gap between rural artisans and urban markets, ensuring the heritage of the Kuruma and Kuruba communities continues, providing economic stability and pride in their cultural legacy. #sustainability #ruralindia #wool #woolshoes #employment

Happyy to Share My Work on the P-tal Packaging Project 🧡 I recently had the opportunity to work on the packaging design for P-tal, a brand that promotes handcrafted copper and brass home decor and kitchenware. This project was part of an Enactus initiative aimed at reviving the traditional craft of the Thathera community from Jandiala Guru, Amritsar. P-tal's mission resonates deeply with me - they focus on the health benefits of using traditional metals, emphasize sustainability, and aim to preserve cultural heritage. As a designer, it was incredibly rewarding to creatively express these values through the packaging. My goal was to design packaging that not only protects the products but also tells a story - one that highlights the artisans' dedication and the brand's mission. Each piece of packaging serves as a testament to the craftsmanship and heritage behind P-tal. Working on this project has enriched my understanding of social entrepreneurship and the positive impact we can make through innovative design. I'm grateful to have been part of this Enactus initiative and to contribute to the revival of the UNESCO-listed Thathera craft form. Check out my Behance case study to learn more about the packaging design process and the meaningful story behind P-tal: https://lnkd.in/gQ_J_QrC Project#packaging #socialimpact #socialentrepreneurship #enactus #traditionalcraft #copper #brass #sustainability #healthylifestyle

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐬 Every Maison Mollerus bag, small leather good, and piece of luggage has been handcrafted with passion since 1984. From the first cut to the final stitch, each item is meticulously made in local master ateliers in Ticino and Northern Italy. Handcrafting is a tradition at Mollerus – both family businesses are successfully run in the second generation. The outstanding quality of traditional craftsmanship has already convinced many customers – each product is a one-of-a-kind piece, made with great expertise and dedication. At our Swiss production site, I see many advantages. Firstly, the quality of our products is guaranteed by close control and careful manufacturing in our local production facilities. Secondly, the proximity to our production sites allows for quick adaptation to customer needs and trends. Each of our master pieces carries a unique name, connecting them to a piece of Switzerland. Our creations are named after a locality or city, a river, or a mountain of the beautiful Swiss landscape. Sustainability at Heart 🖤 We are proud to integrate sustainability into our craftsmanship. For the production of our eco-friendly materials, we collaborate with fruit growers in South Tyrol. The process involves drying and grinding apple pomace, which is then mixed with a biodegradable solvent and applied to cotton sheets. After repeated drying, the solvent is washed out, and the cotton combines with the apple leather, making it ready for further processing. "The production of apple leather is an environmentally friendly process. Everything about this leather is recyclable. No toxic tanning agents or preservatives are used, which means there is no unnecessary burden on the environment or nature,". We are very proud of all our supporters and costumers. Thank you all, for everything! Take a look: #Handcrafting #familybusiness
