Without DNA to make comparisons to, and without technology to cross over previous boundaries, this case would not be active or ever solved. AI and databases of information are multi-purpose, and that makes them invaluable to solving crimes from a new perspective.

What I thought the future would be: flying cars and hover boards. What the future actually is: Inputting mine and the opposing party's briefs into AI software and turning it into a podcast so I can listen on how to discuss the legal issues in a formal but more conversational manner so I am better prepared for oral argument. The future is wild.

Great episode. Mostly because it’s not super heavy or nuanced on the “law of AI.” It’s all about understanding the technology, and the moral / ethical considerations that surround it. If you want to be a legal advisor that Commanders and Staff respect and listen to, you have to understand their business and their concerns. Couch your legal advice to answer that, and you’ll be both right AND relevant.

📕 Tonight, as an experiment, I used an AI tool to generate a podcast summarizing arguably one of the most important public documents in the history of Canadian competition policy. It's a nearly 800-page report, published in 1888, that laid the groundwork for the first modern competition law. The report is super nerdy and super dense and uses some arcane terminology, so I assumed the output would be awful. I was wrong. Somehow it produced an engaging and shockingly realistic 12-minute discussion with linkages to modern day concerns. I don't even know what to say...see for yourself. https://lnkd.in/euHYdGVN
