Are you concerned that an adult you know may be neglecting themselves to an extent that may endanger their safety or wellbeing? Knowsley Safeguarding Adults Board know there are three common characteristics of self-neglect. They are: • Lack of self-care - this includes neglecting personal hygiene, nutrition and hydration, or health • Lack of care for their environment - this includes hoarding which causes health and safety/fire risks and living in domestic squalor • Does not accept help for the above issues If this sounds like someone you know, help is at hand. Don’t forget, if you believe a person is in immediate risk of harm, you should contact the police by ringing 999.
