🌍✨ What an enlightening morning, discussing the pivotal role of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to enable a green transition!    🔗 Held on June 27th, the workshop brought together a consortium of experts from the DPI, climate, and biodiversity sectors. We delved into how foundational DPI like digital IDs, digital payments, and data exchanges, as well as potential 'Green DPI' can play a strategic role in combating the climate crisis and supporting vulnerable communities, convened by UNDP Climate Co-Develop The Rockefeller Foundation Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH USAID The World Bank and Digital Impact Alliance.   🌱 Key discussions focused on: Defining problems and identifying working approaches with a 'DPI lens' for... • Enhancing transparency in the carbon market and green finance. • Promoting nature-positive economic incentives. • Addressing vulnerabilities and risks induced by climate change.   🤖 We heard from countries: Inspiring presentations from Ecuador on how they are using AI for their early warning system, and Cote d'Ivoire on their development of a carbon registry to ensure a transparent and integrity carbon market.   💡 The collective insights gathered will guide a study on ‘Green DPIs’ that are scalable and fundamental for accelerating national commitments to the Paris Agreement and Global Biodiversity Plan.   🌐 A huge thank you to all participants, convening partners and CODES (Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability) for your valuable contributions and for setting the stage for impactful future collaborations. PRIORITIES FOR DECARBONIZATION IN CENTRAL ASIA TO BE DISCUSSED IN ALMATY As is well known, the Central Asian region, comprising five countries, is facing the adverse effects of climate change: rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, and an increase in extreme weather events. In this context, from May 27 to 29, 2024, the «Green Academy» Research and Educational Center, in collaboration with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and with the support of the SIPA/OECD project and the University of Central Asia (UCA), will host a session titled "Climate Change and Security: Decarbonization and Adaptation Policies in Central Asia" on the platform of the Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2024). The session will discuss innovative approaches to developing a decarbonization strategy for Central Asia, mechanisms for implementing regional cooperation, and the signing of a Memorandum on the establishment of a Regional Climate Hub. The session will be moderated by Dr. Bakhyt Yessekina, a member of the Green Economy Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the director of the «Green Academy» REC. What is Climate Change? About Climate Finance, Biodiversity, Climate Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Climate Risks? My distinct honor to participate in the United Nations (UN) Biodiversity Conference 2024 (COP16) in Cali, Columbia, from Oct 21 to Nov 1st. Research and discover the Flash report from UN COP16 Colombia negotiations to protect biodiversity. I am making a positive difference. As a stellar Servant, Inspirational and Transformational leader with world-class experience, I am doing my part to make Peace with Nature while helping build a more prosperous world. What is the 2024 UN COP16? How to protect Biodiversity? Together, we can build a more prosperous world. 1) Over 115 countries have submitted targets and 70% of targets are aligned with all Global Biodiversity Framework targets. 2) 35 Parties have submitted revised National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans with many more upcoming until the end of 2025. 3) Target commitments often lack details on implementation or concrete sub elements, so there is still work to do for all parties. From EU Environment and Climate: " Overall, negotiations are progressing slowly, but concrete elements are emerging, including agreements on the role of Indigenous peoples and local communities in implementation, closing financing gaps, a monitoring framework, and technical and scientific cooperation. Our health is inseparable from the health of the planet and its many species."
