Exciting developments in India's semiconductor sector! The approval of investments worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore (14 billion dollars) by the Cabinet signals a promising future for the industry. With careful execution, this move has the potential to significantly boost the Indian economy by a quarter trillion within the next decade. Gujarat is positioned to emerge as India's semiconductor hub, with Tata Electronics and Taiwan's PSMC expected to set up a new plant in Dholera, estimated at 9 billion dollars upon completion. The joint venture between Tatas and the Assam government to establish a fabs factory in Assam not only promises industrial growth but also foster a value chain in the Northeast region. However, global chip manufacturing market leader TSMC remains absent from India. I hope companies like Intel and Samsung, already invested in India, will consider manufacturing chips domestically. Similarly, Nvidia's leadership in AI chips presents an opportunity for deeper investment beyond design center and offshoring. Firms Like HCL too were fully equipped to assist small to big firms with the cloud way to manage their experience to choose the nodes of chip, chip designing and dealing with foundries to get the desired output.
