23 years later, we're still living with the consequences of 9/11 and the ensuing wars. -Nearly 3,000 lives lost on 9/11. -20 years of war in Afghanistan. -20+ years of war in Iraq and Syria. -Nearly $6 trillion prosecuting those wars. -7,000 American troops killed in combat. -30,000 post-9/11 vets dead by suicide After the justified response from the U.S. to punish the Taliban for harboring and aiding the terrorists behind 9/11 and beginning the hunt for Osama bin Laden, political and military leaders tried to remake Afghanistan in our own image. After spending American blood and treasure for two decades, we can judge their grand plans clearly. Not content to restrain their nation-building, they sold Americans on a war in Iraq as the "next step in eliminating terrorism in the name of safety and democratic values, and yet had no direct connection to al-Qaida terrorists or September 11th." And more than 20 years later, American men and women are still in harm's way in Iraq and Syria, with no clear mission or end date in sight. CVA's Jason Beardsley and John Byrnes explain it best: "September 11 will not be truly over until everything that happened in its wake is brought to a close. Post-9/11 war veterans will struggle to let the war end in our hearts and minds if the war doesn’t actually end. And our country can’t truly honor the sacrifice of those lost until we stop the unnecessary conflict. Let’s not forget them either."

Where the world is going on Here are some estimated death tolls resulting from war from 1900 to 2024 ¹ ²: - More than 37 million people have died in wars - An estimated 110 million people died in the 20th century alone - Around 187 million people died as a result of war from 1900 to the present, but the actual number could be higher - Here are some of the deadliest wars in the 21st century ³: - Second Congo War (1998-2003): 3 million people - Syrian Civil War (2011-present): 470,000 people - Darfur Conflict (2003-present): 300,000 people - Iraq War (2003-2010): 4,700 coalition troops and at least 85,000 Iraqi civilians - Afghanistan War (2001-present): 30,000 Afghan troops and police, 31,000 Afghan civilians, and 3,500 NATO-led coalition troops - War Against Boko Haram (2002-present): 11,000 civilians - Yemeni Civil War (2011-present): 375,000 lives - Russia-Ukraine War (2014-present): 14,000 people (as of 2021)

Who are these military personnel? They are our own brothers and sons, not citizens of another country. Why are you promoting your favorite political party's narrative while defaming your own army? What will you gain by propagating false information about your own armed forces? If, as Pakistanis, you spread propaganda against your own military, then what's the difference between you and Indian chronicles? They also spread fake news and propaganda against Pakistan and its armed forces. Sadly, my fellow countrymen are doing the same, blinded by their political affiliations. Learn to control your words and comments. Every post and comment you make hurts many of our fellow citizens and the families of martyrs. Spreading fake news and trolling the military causes pain to the heirs of martyrs. You will be accountable to Allah for spreading falsehoods. So, as Muslims and Pakistanis, understand your responsibility and work for the betterment of your country and nation. Respect your state and military. May Allah grant us wisdom. Ameen."

To put things in perspective, the area of London city is 1700 sq km, the whole area of the Gaza Strip is 300 sq km. It is unimaginable what legitimate military objectives the Israeli army, one of the best equipped and strongest in the world, is pursuing and would need wage a military campaign on Gaza continuing for more than a year. A military campaign that is certainly not a low intensity one, the Israeli army has dropped well over 70,000 tons of bombs on Gaza – that's higher than the WWII bombings of London, Hamburg and Dresden combined. The only reason that would explain why such a campaign went on for a year and with such intensity and high casualties that exceed 42000 confirmed killings of Palestinians is that this campaign is not a military one but a genocidal campaign attempting to destroy the people and land. A genocidal campaign in which the western ruling oligarchy is an accomplice of; a genocidal campaign that has been covered up by the mainstream media' a genocidal campaign that is defining the 21st century.

Day 427. These are the faces of the 100 hostages still being held by Hamas (and affiliates). There are always discussions of potential deals. But I don’t think I’ve seen a single deal being discussed that would bring every single hostage home. Children, women, men, and elderly. Civilian and military. Alive and dead. Why? Why can’t the world pressure Hamas to release each and every hostage? Why is Israel always forced to negotiate with terrorists - and to release multiple terrorists in exchange for innocent civilians taken from their homes and communities? Why is there not more outrage that Hamas has held a baby and a young boy for 427 days and counting? So many whys. But one call to action. Demand the release of the hostages TODAY.

The horrors in Sudan rip one's heart and demand immediate action. When the massacres were happening in Sudan decades ago, I tried to get there. I couldn't get in, couldn't even find out what was happening. The mass, corporate media has no information on Darfur, and even independent media has scant information to help us understand and process, and then respond.
