This new article explores the transformation of contemporary higher education space – in particular, it explores Bonnie Honig’s notion of the death or diminishment of “public things” (Honig, 2017) as they relate to the modern concept of the university. Following Honig’s (2017) work, we argue that the concept of the university, if it was ever to be considered to rest within the realm of the public, is currently being captured by political lobbyists and state and ultra conservative right non-state actors to redefine the idea of what we mean by the public and the university. The context for such forms of HE capture relate primarily to shifting geopolitics and new state norms – in this case, the rise of neo-nationalisms in a new age of extremes, with Hungary as a focal point. Keeping digging into education sphere I’ve started the academic year at the Janusz Korczak Institute of Alternative Education on the program "Horizons of Alternative Education" leading by Mikhail Epshtein. In the first seminar we tried to define what we are talking about when we talk about alternative education? The words "out of traditional Soviet education system" were heard and very little was said about other countries edu-systems. And I wonder if the concept of alternative education exists only in post-soviet countries as opposite to government's system? Or this concept is familiar to people from another countries as well? Have you ever heard about alternative education in your home country? If yes, what do you mean by this concept?

Teaching an international class where English is a second or additional language for most students is now commonplace in UK HEIs - especially in postgraduate courses. That presents a new set of challenges for lecturers and requires a new methodological approach...
The Changing Face of UK Higher Education The landscape of UK higher education has transformed dramatically. International students now make up 26% of our university population, bringing incredible diversity to our campuses. But here's the challenge: while our classrooms have gone global, our teaching methods often haven't caught up. It's time we address the elephant in the room - many of our brilliant lecturers need specialized training to effectively teach international classes. Oxford EMI works with UK universities too! #HigherEducation #InternationalEducation #UKUniversities

One of the publications I am most proud of as an individual is one that considers how #highereducation needs to consider how #TitleIX is communicated to #international students. Considering how important #studyabroad and other elements can be for many campuses, the intersection of Title IX policy and student awareness for reporting and inclusion becomes clear. The Journal of International Students has ensured that this is an open educational resource, so I hope it continues to be a piece of research that invites conversation and enables future study. https://lnkd.in/ewZzcVGe
