Rising Demand for Ethical and Eco-Friendly Products: The Shift Every Brand Must Embrace In today’s fast-evolving market, the demand for ethical and eco-friendly products is no longer a niche preference, it’s a global movement. Consumers are making more informed choices, prioritizing brands that align with their values of sustainability and ethical responsibility. For companies, this shift represents both a challenge and an unparalleled opportunity to innovate and lead. Examples of Ethical and Eco-Friendly Innovations 1. Patagonia: A pioneer in sustainability, Patagonia uses recycled materials in its products and offers a Worn Wear program to repair and resell used items, extending product life and reducing waste. The company resold more than 120,000 repurposed items, effectively minimizing waste and lowering emissions. 2. Unilever: The company’s Sustainable Living Plan focuses on reducing environmental impact and improving the livelihoods of millions. Brands like Dove and Ben & Jerry’s are leading with purpose-driven campaigns and sustainable sourcing. Over 60% of Unilever’s growth comes from its sustainable brands. 3. Allbirds: Known for its eco-friendly footwear, Allbirds uses renewable materials like eucalyptus fiber, sugarcane, and merino wool. The brand also publishes its carbon footprint for every product. 4. The Body Shop: The Body Shop promotes cruelty-free testing, ensures sustainable sourcing of ingredients, and fosters local economic development through fair trade partnerships. Their Shea Butter range directly supports women’s co-ops in Ghana. #EcoFriendlyProducts #EthicalConsumerism #techsciresearch #ResponsibleBranding #SustainableBusiness #ConsumerGoods

👚 As part of Fashion Revolution Week we are looking into the importance of supply chain traceability for big brands. edie has recently posted research from the ‘Earthsight Fashion Crimes Report’ which has linked the cotton used in clothing from high-street brands including H&M and Zara to illegal deforestation in Brazil. 🌿 The 816,000 tonnes of tainted cotton had previously been certified by the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), meaning these companies were claiming they were investing in sustainability and traceability. 👖The BCI have since gone back to audit the farms in Bahia to ensure they meet the standard, however, this makes clear that breaches can occur within the standards we know and respect and that brands can therefore be held accountable for them. #fashionrevolutionweek #sustainablefashion #supplychaintraceability https://lnkd.in/eHUjdKeD

Looking forward to welcoming fashion and textile brands, suppliers, standards, and other key industry players at our Cotton Sustainability Insetting event tomorrow in London. We'll be sharing our solution developed with Pakistan in-country partners SAMA^Verte to enable brands to invest in the resilience of their cotton value chains through clean energy and nature interventions towards the creation of Affordable Clean Environmental (ACE) Villages. We'll share the key takeaways from the day's sessions, as we're sure it will yield fruitful exploration of what is truly needed for environmental and livelihood transformation at the farm level of the cotton value chain. #CottonSustainabilityInsetting #ACEFarms #SustainableCotton #Insetting #SustainableFashion

Today I'm sharing one of our favorite fashion brands @Etiko Fairtrade. Much more than a fashion brand, Etiko take its human rights and environmental responsibility seriously. Earlier this year they launched their Tipping Program where anyone can support the makers within their supply chain, with a direct tip, which is sent directly to the makers, so they can support themselves and their family further. And like any good sustainable clothing and footwear retailer, they also have a Buy Back Scheme and if that's not enough...their sneaker soles are made of natural latex rubber. The cotton canvas and upper are made from certified organic and Fairtrade Zero animal glues and non-toxic dyes. The sneaker shoebox is made of post-consumer waste. Founded by Nick Savaidis in Melbourne, Australia, back in 2005. Nick is a change maker in the Australian fashion indsutry and he had one wish: to buy apparel and footwear that didn’t involve child labour or underpaid workers, and didn’t wreck the environment. In short, he wanted to buy ethical clothing, but found that no such brand existed. By creating fair, transparent, environmentally-friendly supply chains, @Etiko has directly supported the human rights and labour conditions of countless cotton growers, rubber tappers, apparel workers, shoe manufacturers and sports ball producers living in India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. This has positive flow-on effects for these workers’ families and their communities. No wonder they're winning awards and the loyal hearts of many customers. 10 Years Fashion Revolution: What have we achieved so far? In the past 10 years, the Aid by Trade Foundation was able to accelerate action by means of its sustainability standards Cotton made in Africa, Cotton made in Africa Organic and The Good Cashmere Standard. At Cotton made in Africa, we take pride in collaborating with partners across Africa South of the Sahara, providing support to about 900,000 small-scale farmers. This is an exceptional increase of almost 90% in comparison to 2014 when about 470.000 farmers grew CmiA verified cotton. On top of that, more than 60 retailers and brands in the textile and fashion industry such as Otto Group Tchibo REWE Group BESTSELLER Fynch-Hatton Ernsting's family ALDI SÜD or Lidl in Germany are now part of our extended network. With The Good Cashmere Standard, we established the benchmark for sustainably produced cashmere back in 2019 and now work with around 9,100 herders, a total of around 4.3 million goats in Inner Mongolia and more than 50 international textile companies and brands - including BESTSELLER, J.Crew, Galeries Lafayette, H&M, S.OLIVER GROUP, PETER HAHN GmbH or The White Company - who use the verified cashmere fibres for their products. By choosing CmiA and GCS labelled products, you are not only making a statement in support of these farmers, workers and animals, but also joining a global movement towards a fashion industry that is more ethical and sustainable. Is your favourite fahion brand already among our partners? Together, let's make a positive impact on the lives of people, animals and nature! 💪💚🌍 #whomademyclothes

Fashion Crimes: Impact on the planet is what drives us at Komrads: we want to keep our impact as low as possible by using recycled and certified materials. Unfortunately the impact of fashion is devastating: UK investigative NGO Earthsight spent over a year analyzing satellite images, court rulings, shipment records and going undercover at global trade shows to trace nearly a million tons of tainted cotton from some of the most notorious estates in Brazil to clothing manufacturers in Asia that are suppliers of the world’s two largest fashion retailers. #komrads #komradsofthefurture #earthsight #sustainablefashion https://lnkd.in/e4MJYXwY

🛍 Imagine if we could know the ingredients of the #clothes we buy? 👔 A British industrial designer named Peter Gorse has developed a ‘garment facts’ #label. Inspired by the familiar nutritional labels ubiquitous in the food industry, Gorse curated data on key parameters and designed an easily accessible format. Consumers are already familiar with this type of label and can easily grasp the information it provides. In Gorse's example, the #garment described contains 45 grams of chemicals per 100 grams of fabric, 112 synthetic chemicals; it traveled 25,432 miles through its supply chain and will shed 137,951 microfibers per wash; and its textile workers earned 45% of the local living wage. Transparent access to this kind of #data can influence consumer choices and production processes, much like the impact of nutritional labels introduced years ago on food products. Let's see if the European Union will be inspired by Gorse's project! Follow us to stay updated on the latest developments in circular and transparent fashion! 🌱 🌏 #sustainability #sustainabletextile #circular #fashion #label #green
