The unheard story of "Stree Swabhiman" , The cheapest sanitary napkins which is now undertaken by GOI ------------------------------------------------ In the heart of bustling Mumbai, amidst honking rickshaws and towering skyscrapers, lived a young woman named Priya. Unlike the corporate drones rushing by, Priya's eyes held a different kind of fire - the fire of a dreamer, a builder. Priya wasn't born with a silver spoon, but she possessed something far more valuable - a burning desire to empower the women around her. Priya witnessed firsthand the struggles of women in her community. Lack of access to sanitary products forced them to miss school and work, limiting their opportunities. The existing options were either expensive or inconvenient. Priya knew there had to be a better way. Fuelled by a fiery determination, Priya started sketching ideas on worn-out notebooks. Days were spent researching materials, nights were filled with learning about manufacturing and supply chains. She faced countless rejections from investors who saw her idea as "niche" or "unprofitable." But Priya refused to be deterred. She started small, pooling her savings and convincing local artisans to create eco-friendly, reusable sanitary pads. Her initial customers were women from her own neighborhood – friends, family, and anyone willing to listen. They were skeptical at first, but Priya's passion and the affordability of her product were persuasive. Word spread like wildfire. Women from neighboring communities started seeking out Priya's creation. Soon, her tiny apartment transformed into a makeshift workshop, buzzing with activity. Priya, with the help of her growing team, streamlined production, negotiated better deals with suppliers, and even launched an online store. Today, Priya's company, "Stree Swabhiman" (meaning "Women's Pride" in Hindi), is a thriving social enterprise. It not only provides affordable sanitary products but also employs and educates women, breaking the cycle of poverty. Priya travels across India, speaking at conferences and workshops, inspiring other women to become entrepreneurs and changemakers. Priya's story is a testament to the power of a single dream fueled by relentless determination. It reminds us that success doesn't come easy, but with grit, passion, and a genuine desire to make a difference, even the most ordinary individual can build something extraordinary. #StreeSwabhiman #Mumbai #GovernmentOfIndia #MakeInIndia #Business #WomensPride #Inspirational

Men can be the best champion for women. Dr Tim Mahlberg Sie advocated for my visibility, putting my name forward to be in the cover of the first issue of Boundless Magazine our state innovation magazine covering our Cobber founding story. Fun fact also, our State Premier validated my problem statement of the daunting process of sourcing larger secondhand goods, sharing the experience of his family sourcing a trampoline from marketplace, without suitable transport. I've done a lot of problem validation in my ideation stage, but hearing it from our State Premier is pretty cool! #Cobber #Yourdeliverymates #Thehomeofrecommerce #visibility #accessibility #sustainability #circular #economy Comment if you agree 👇

It's a big month here at Bennetto Natural Foods co; it’s B Corp month, and today, it’s International Women’s Day. In honour of these events, I wanted to give a big shout-out to the other female founders of B Corp businesses in Aotearoa, New Zealand. I’m proud to be one of them. International Women's Day brings awareness to the unique challenges and differences women face, including gender bias and discrimination when pitching to investors, stereotypes to overcome, limited networking and access to mentors, and the struggle to balance work and home life. Despite research-based statistics showing women-owned businesses tend to outperform, they receive less funding than male-owned businesses. However, what makes it all worth it is the compassion and community-focus that women bring into business. Kiwi women of the B Corp world are making a real and important difference. For instance, Kendall Flutey of Banqer is empowering kids to be financially literate and ready for the modern world. Brianne West, co-founder of Ethique and soon-to-launch Incrediballs, is waging a one-woman war on single-use plastic bottles, while Peri. Drysdale and Gosia Piatek of Untouched World and Kowtow Clothing, respectively, are driving the change that the fashion industry needs. I'm also inspired by Latesha Randall of Raglan Food Co, who is a great mentor to me personally, along with the Chia Sisters, Chloe and Florence Van Dyke, Michele Wilson of AWWA Period care, and the founders of Hello Period™, Robyn McLean and Mary Bond, who are taking on the big boys of traditional (and environmentally harmful) period products. And then there's Gillian Boucher of sustainable footwear brand Orba Shoes – shoes that you can bury, and they'll completely biodegrade. I have two pairs and love them! There are many more amazing female founders of B Corp businesses in Aotearoa and the rest of the world. Please feel free to give them a shout-out in the comments. Pride is more than changing corporate logos. Pride remains a political statement, an act of resistance, a reflection of a heterogeneous group of people who are human and therefore flawed, often reinforcing the position of some of our most vulnerable at the margins of our diffuse community. And, today every city, county, and state offers us varying levels of interconnectedness, safety, and support. I spent time over the holidays last year with my boyfriend’s family in Indiana where we were verbally harasssed and physically intimidated in grocery stores, restaurants, on the street, and in my partner’s family home. The experience awoke me to the vacuous privilege of gay bubbles like SF and NYC I’ve lived in and enjoyed since leaving my own homophobic hometown in rural NorCal. It’s critical this month—as always—to vote, contact your congressional representatives, and use your dollars to support LGBTQIA2S community. We cannot rely solely on hollow corporate pandering during Pride month while LGBTQIA2S individuals continue facing harassment, discrimination, and violence in their daily lives. True allyship demands concrete action that uplifts and empowers our community economically, socially, and politically. By consciously choosing to support LGBTQIA2S-owned businesses like PETALA BEAUTY, you are actively investing in our collective liberation and self-determination. Each purchase from a queer entrepreneur is a defiant act against the systemic oppression that seeks to erase and marginalize us. Furthermore, my brand's ethos intertwines queer identity with Indigenous heritage, celebrating the beauty of our intersectional experiences. Support PETALA BEAUTY, and you uplift not just the LGBTQIA2S community but also amplify Indigenous voices reclaiming ancestral knowledge. Together, we can forge a more equitable world where our existence is not merely tolerated but celebrated in its vibrant authenticity. 🌱💄🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ #sustainability #skincare #indigenous #native #indigenousskincare #lakota #twospirit #pride https://lnkd.in/eqXgsTVK

A beacon of inspiration for young Black women and women everywhere. Golden Hour Skincare, founded in 2021 by best friends Bonolo Matjila and Patience Kunene, serves as a beacon of inspiration for young Black women and women everywhere. Their mission to disrupt the beauty industry with environmentally sustainable, gender-inclusive skincare products showcases their innovative spirit and commitment to excellence. Matjila and Kunene identified a market gap and used their expertise in law and tax law to drive strategic development and manage finances. Facing significant challenges in raising capital, they persevered and successfully secured R3.5 million in startup funding through development programs. Their journey, marked by resilience and determination, should inspire the African Black child to dream big, work tirelessly, and never give up. Golden Hour Skincare stands out by focusing on skin concerns rather than gender, using high-quality ingredients with proven efficacies, and prioritizing sustainable packaging. The company is transitioning to 100% recyclable and refillable packaging, with plans to eventually use post-consumer recycled plastics. Imagine a future where more young women direct their energies towards benefiting themselves and their economy, challenging themselves to eradicate poverty. Bonolo and Patience embody this spirit, demonstrating how innovation and determination can drive both personal and economic growth. #ENTREPRENEURSHIP #WOMENEMPOWERMENT #BUSINESSFUNDING
