Discovering ULCD 🦠 : A critical issue affecting crop health. Let's explore its impact and solutions for a thriving agricultural future. ✳️ Urdbean Leaf Crinkle Virus (ULCV) is the cause of Urdbean Leaf Crinkle Disease (ULCD), which affects Black gram (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) plants. 🔸ULCD is a widespread and devastating disease that causes leaves to become extremely crinkled, puckered, and rough, which can lead to significant yield losses. Symptoms: ✳️ Enlargement in size followed by crinkled surfaces of laminae were the characteristics symptoms of the affected trifoliates. The affected plants are stunted, appear bushy, remain green and do not die till harvest. In severe infection, all the leaves are curved downwards. 🔸Survival: Seed-borne. 🔸 Spread: Sap and Insect vectors like white fly - Bemisia tabaci, and Aphid – Aphis craccivora, and A.gossypii transmit the disease. Favourable conditions: 🔸High temperature during summer period favours the disease spread. ✳️ Management: ✓Spray with Methyl demeton @ 500 ml/ha to control vectors @ 40 DAS. ✓ Remove weed hosts. ✓ Treat seeds with Dimethoate 30 EC or Imidacloprid 600 FS. ✓ Rogue out infected plants up to 45 days after sowing. ✓Spray with 10% notchi leaf extract or 3 % neem formulation. ✓ Spray with insecticides and repeat after 15 days if necessary. ✓ Cultivate seed crops during the rabi season. ✓ Use an increased seed rate of 25 kg/ha. #agriculture #plantdisease #cropprotection #farming #fieldcrops #blackgram Follow for more! ⬇️ Pragadeeshwaran Tamilvanan
