I've become very interested in how humans are being conditioned by the technological environment.

➡ New publication _ https://lnkd.in/dK_PP4hK 📑 Patricia Gouveia, Cristina Sá and I are interested in exploring and experimenting with the intricate relationships and coalitions between the arts, convergent feminism and digital and analog technologies, bringing together codes and algorithms, creativity and community involvement. This broad theme sparked the interest of some authors with diverse points of view and diverse arts-based research. ➡ This special edition presents articles that are likely to pique the interest of a wide audience which questions the role of artificial intelligence in the arts and seeks examples of art-based research that takes advantage of transmedia ecologies and gaming to generate sustainable futures. #artsbasedreserach #technologies #gaming #transmedia

Call me an idealist but I'd rather live in a #solarpunk world! I want to take a moment this morning to start the week with #hope. Solarpunk is a movement and aesthetic that is sort of the antithesis of cyberpunk and its dystopian worldview - it offers optimism, #community, a utopian world where #humanity has overcome global challenges and uses technology for good, living in harmony with earth and one another. While it's important to be aware of what's going on in our current reality, I think it's equally important to be able to imagine a radically different future. If we can imagine it, maybe we can actually create it? Here's an article to introduce you to it if you haven't already heard of solarpunk: https://lnkd.in/dg67D6xz Wishing you all a fantastic week. #TechForGood #Futuristic

This is a follow up with Lee Saedol, the 18-time world Go champion defeated by Deepmind's AlphaGo in 2016. If you haven't yet seen the WONDERFUL documentary available on YouTube, I'll link to it in the comments below. The film is absolutely worth 90 minutes of your time this weekend. From the article: "By besting Mr. Lee, an 18-time world champion revered for his intuitive and creative style of play, AlphaGo had solved one of computer science’s greatest challenges: teaching itself the abstract strategy needed to win at Go, widely considered the world’s most complex board game." https://lnkd.in/ecBeEnxe

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how films shape our ideas of the future. So many movies paint a picture of what's to come, and often, it's pretty grim. Think of the dark, dystopian worlds in movies like “Ready Player One,” where humanity escapes to virtual reality to get away from environmental and social decay. Or the stark, oppressive settings of classics like “Blade Runner” and “The Hunger Games.” But what if we could rewrite our eco-imaginaries, one that’s full of hope and harmony instead of doom and gloom? This question inspired me to write my latest article on a #Solarpunk future published at Girugten. #Degrowth #UrbanPlanning

7moKris Krüg I immediately think of George Orwell's dystopian classic 1984 in the context what mass surveillance looks like, and the impact of self-censorship that exists in some places already today. Technology is but a tool; ultimately it is how we as a society decide that tool should be used that will determine impact. Narratives can serve as a looking glass that encourages the public to imagine both positive and negative impact of a technology outside of the walls of think-tanks and academia. This in turn will hopefully allow them to press their elected leaders to implement policy that benefits the many, rather than the select few.
