Good read and tips from Stanford Social Innovation Review on how to tell real stories of #impact. The article points out that #storytelling from social impact organizations can feel like social change-y Mad Libs (sound familiar?!). Some good practical points include: (1) show how you are working toward collective change with the people you serve, (2) demonstrate how you are part of a larger movement ecosystem and (3) share details that connect to human emotions and experiences. “Storytelling is the most powerful tool we have for helping people understand the work we do, particularly from people who are closest to injustice and inequality. However, as storytellers, we need to take special care to ensure that the people sharing their stories are not exploited, traumatized, or tokenized. As a sector, we must avoid gatekeeping narratives assuming we as professionals know best, and hand over resources and space to people closest to injustice to tell their own stories as partners and strategists.” https://lnkd.in/dRvQU_tY
