What an inspiring and realistic conversation about creating a culture of talent retention at today's AFCEA Nova event. The conversation went back to the simple yet often challenging truth of human connection. To create the feeling of belonging that inspires people to stay -- leaders and managers can choose to focus on meeting their team members where they are, connecting in ways that are unique to what motivates them, and showing up as valuing their growth. While we probably all instinctively know this, it's a practice that takes continuous patience, skill, and no joke -- a sense of humor. :) [Pictured Michelle Larkin, MG Linda Lee Singh, USA (Ret.), Ms. Theresa Terry, and Col. Why did I travel all the way to Reno, NV to build a bicycle? And - how important is #collaboration for a team or company to thrive? A lot. So much so, that last week, #Ormat's VPs gathered in the breathtaking setting of Lake Tahoe for a three-day collaboration #workshop, which began with a keynote by Prof. Yuval Kalish, a global consultant on #leadership practices who guided us through the essence of collaboration. Through this entire workshop, we emphasized these key takeaways: 1. The power of shared #goals to enhance collaboration, increase motivation, and ultimately maximize results in a vertically integrated company like Ormat. 2. The importance of face-to-face meetings to build trust and understand partners' needs. 3. The "Tipping Point" concept by Malcolm Gladwell, which highlights how key individuals can enhance team collaboration by spreading ideas effectively. We collaborated for three days to achieve a shared goal: building a bicycle, which was then donated to a children's organization (after passing a safety assessment). This experience emphasized how true leadership and collaboration can create something tangible and impactful, reminding us that #together, we can build not just bicycles but a better future. Kudos to Liza Tavori, Ormat's EVP of HR, who orchestrated the entire event. Korn Ferry #thetippingpoint Ormat Technologies, Inc.

Faced with immense pressure, they picked themselves up from their disappointments and came together not just to compete, but to excel. Though their performance wasn't flawless, they adapted and supported each other, turning potential mistakes into a silver-medal victory. 💡 Business Takeaway: In business, just like in a relay, success often hinges on how well a team can adapt and recover from challenges. When team members trust each other and remain focused on their collective goal, they can overcome setbacks and achieve outcomes that might have seemed out of reach. The British relay team’s journey is a powerful reminder that resilience, adaptability, and teamwork are essential ingredients for success. #Teamwork #Collaboration #Olympics2024 #BusinessSuccess #Leadership

#hypewomen The most inspiring speaker Tsvetelina O. shared her journey and insights on the transition from Designer to Leader at a wonderful event yesterday by #AmsterdamUX hosted by Mews. Never thought about it this way before, but indeed leadership skills are all so-called “soft skills”. When a very experienced designer with a solid range of professional hard skills is moved up to leadership, their “leading” can simply fail because of not having, not having learned, or not being willing to learn the leadership set of “soft” skills. Which again makes me question the “softness” of such essential skills as strategic thinking, adaptability or empathy – I covered the latter in my keynote at ADPList’s #BeMore2023 and presented it as a strategic tool, not at all as a soft skill. Food for thought! But most importantly, especially in the light of the #IWD tomorrow – well done Tsvetelina for getting so far in your career as a #WomaninTech. It’s still not easy, the glass ceiling is still there, but you have made it despite it all. A standing ovation to you.
