Let's be honest, adding a registered suitcase with low-cost airlines means an additional minimum of 100 EUR to your trip. It always comes with hidden rules like suitcase size, weight limits, and so on. And let's not forget the hassle of dragging it around the airport and waiting at baggage claim. Lately, we have been discussing whether, with such developed post pack points in Europe, it is worth sending your suitcase to another country in advance before your flight. It turns out that the company "InPost" has already started this service. Prices range from 30 to 60 EUR, with delivery times varying depending on the region and priority. What do you think? You're booking your summer vacation plans, and there's a great price on flights! You act quickly. But wait -- this ticket doesn't have a carry-on option. How about this other one, also a great price? But now they won't let you pick your seats without paying more. You want to sit with your family, so you pay up. Stuff like this keeps happening until finally, you're at the checkout screen. But wait -- how did it end up being THAT MUCH more than it was originally? Sound familiar? This could be due to a practice known as "drip pricing." Drip pricing is when airlines advertise a low base fare but then add extra charges for services like seat choice, checked bags, snacks, or wifi. While this can boost airline revenue and theoretically allows flyers to pay only for the services they care about, it can make it harder to determine the actual cost of flying and compare airline prices. Research shows that consumers often end up spending way more than necessary due to the upfront "savings". Madly booking flights and land transport last minute tends to dampen the holiday spirit. Chasing that elusive “cheap ticket” adds all manner of complications to the holiday planning process – how many hours layover between flights, is that airline really safe! Plus what local train needs to be taken to connect to the Amtrak or Eurostar adds more complication to the decision about whether you take a suitcase or rely on hand luggage. Mapping your travel interconnections is just like mapping a complex problem at work. If we don’t spend the time visualising the interconnections you can be stranded in the middle of nowhere, lugging suitcases up flights of stairs and missing a connection because the promised flight focused on price, not on time departure. Porter Airlines Inc. is 🔥 Why? They approach domestic travel with the economy passenger firmly in mind. Here are some things that struck me about how they do this: 👉 Boarding is efficient. Kept gate relatively clear and crowding to a minimum; everyone on and bags secured in 15 minutes. 👉 Plane is clean. No random stuff in nooks and crannies. No used tissues crammed into the seat back (or just left on the seat). 👉 Seats are comfy. Basic? Sure. But they aren’t some random fabric, your knees aren’t left bruised, and (best of all) there are no middle seats 🎉 Add in two chargers, and it’s a dream economy configuration. 👉 Crew’s friendly. Usually, it’s just a snack box tossed my way with a shrug, but Porter’s team seems happy to be part of something new.
