We congratulate the LUNA Analog Facility team of European Space Agency - ESA and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. for their inauguration of Europe’s new ‘Moon on Earth’ research and training facility! LUNA Analog Facility is a pioneering facility for preparing future astronautical and robotic lunar missions. LUNA enables the realization of highly complex simulations for these activities, thus adding a decisive building block to the global infrastructure preparing humans' return to the lunar surface as part of the Artemis program. We, as BVSR, cannot wait to visit the facility soon while German student teams are already actively engaged to get access to this brand-new facility with their innovative ideas and experiments on how to handle lunar dust, human-robot interaction, and challenging terrain and lighting conditions. As BVSR, we are already working on the first experiments for LUNA as part of our CASIMAR project. We aim to design and build a rover that can interact with astronauts and various spacewalking tools to be tested in LUNA. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Wir gratulieren dem LUNA Analog Facility Team der European Space Agency - ESA und des Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. zur Einweihung von Europas neuer Forschungs- und Trainingseinrichtung „Mond auf der Erde“! Die LUNA Analog Facility ist eine bahnbrechende Einrichtung zur Vorbereitung künftiger astronautischer und robotischer Mondmissionen. LUNA ermöglicht die Durchführung hochkomplexer Simulationen für diese Aktivitäten und ist damit ein entscheidender Baustein für die globale Infrastruktur zur Vorbereitung der Rückkehr von Menschen auf die Mondoberfläche im Rahmen des Artemis-Programms. Wir als BVSR können es kaum erwarten, die Anlage bald zu besuchen während unsere deutschen Studierendenteams bereits dabei sind mit ihren innovativen Ideen und Experimenten zum Umgang mit Mondstaub, Mensch-Roboter-Interaktion und herausfordernden Gelände- und Lichtverhältnissen Zugang zu dieser brandneuen Anlage zu erhalten. Als BVSR arbeiten wir im Rahmen unseres CASIMAR-Projekts bereits an den ersten Experimenten für LUNA.
