Last week I had the great opportunity to attend the Circularity Days 2024 in Wolfsburg and present some of our latest findings from the BMBF-funded research project ZirkulEA. 🌍 It was amazing to experience the common spirit between industry and academia to make the automotive and related industries truly sustainable. In many inspiring keynotes and presentations, I was able to learn about individual and joint efforts to produce raw materials sustainably, to design products and production processes effectively for the circular economy, and to close the loop by recycling materials at the end of their life. While it is clear that there is still a long way to go to achieve such a truly circular economy, it is really helpful and inspiring to take this spirit and new contacts back home to our own research efforts. 💡 In my talk, I shared some of our recent research on how ecosystems can effectively share and use data across lifecycle stages and organizational boundaries. In particular, we take a socio-technical approach to illustrate how traceability systems and circular ecosystems need to grow and mature together over time to catalyze circular practices, business models, and supply chains to cope with external drivers of uncertainty. Make sure to follow ZirkulEA to get more news about our project in the coming months!
