When i think about it more, I see lots of potential for more hardware startups to be started in the Philippines 🇵🇭 From a very high level, I see... ✅ high availability of young, highly skilled tech talent (software + hardware). PH folk can become absolutely cracked if you give them access to the right opportunities (and many are cracked regardless) ✅ close proximity to China/other Asian countries meaning cheap to import hardware compared to Western countries ✅ multilingual. most Filipinos have native/bilingual proficiency in English, meaning they work well with international teams. ❌ need to be more discerning about the quality of your components/what you import because "high quality Western hardware" can become very expensive to bring into the country ❌ bureaucracy can be a huge pain in the butt What other positive/negative factors am I missing?

What do Sweden🇸🇪 and Estonia🇪🇪 have in common? They can become Nordic-Baltic Europe's Silicon Valley. Despite having talent and funds, Europe's tech ecosystem is fragmented. The Nordics and Baltics, with a small population, lead in unicorns per capita. Sweden alone produced 39 unicorns. Estonia, with 1.3M people, boasts 10, including giants like Skype. Is Europe ready for a tech revolution, or will it sink in its bureaucracy and tax strategy? Yes, bureaucracy and tax is a huge topic. A risk-taking culture and an international mindset are key BUT the bureaucracy must incentivize entrepreneurs. How will they overcome this? 📌 What are your thoughts?

Here is one of the five key messages I plan to share during my speech at a startup competition focused on developing technology for persons with disabitlties: [Third, look at the #world as a single #market and move forward.] A startup may start with a small market and a modest product, but the goal should be to view the entire world as your market. Today, thanks to the advancement of technology and regulations, the boundaries between countries are blurring, and the limitations of language and culture are disappearing with the development of future technologies such as AI. If we limit ourselves to the domestic market, it will be difficult to compete with companies that view the world as their market and enter Korea. Startups in our country have many favorable conditions for global expansion, and I encourage you to believe in your potential. I am currently working on creating international standards for accessibility at the UN ITU and international organizations in Asia, building networks around the world, and expanding global business. Just ten years ago, I had never traveled abroad and couldn’t speak a word of English, but now I am conducting business on the global stage. Never never limit your #potential. Believe in what you can achieve. #Global #Market #SCEKorea #에스씨이코리아 #RISeoul #서울시장애인재활협회 #Mobile #Accessibility #모바일 #접근성 #DanielHarkSohn #손학

Are you frustrated by Europe lagging in global competition? Apart from diagnosing and ranting, a few things you can do right now: 1. Publish and comment in English. As much as possible. I know a few great, really outstanding experts - love reading their thoughts in German, in my native Hungarian, sometimes also on my weaker languages + translated… …but I know their thoughts will be lost. They will never make it outside their language bubble. All of us are losing by such values remaining unseen. 2. See individuals, not nationalities. No, a birthplace does not determine someone’s strength and capabilities. Yet many Europeans think so - a recently researched irrationality actually. :) 3. Build networks beyond borders. Follow, initiate, read and share. What if Europe is actually a sum of all of our micro communities? By the way, connect me, if we do not yet know eachother :) 4. Founding a business? What about looking for an “international” co-founder? Or hiring talent from the European pool? Frankly, one of the most ironic controversy is seeing how many talents from our continent find it easier to succeed - elsewhere. 5. Like an initiative or thought from someone you do not know personally? Share it, contribute, add your thoughts. Visibility and attention helps. Speaking of initiatives: here is one, you can make yourself heard about the new EU company format, “EU-Inc”, developing to simplify startup life. One step forward, looking for comments and thoughts. -> https://lnkd.in/dd7_GTHc

Thinking of doing business in Korea...? List of where to start right here! Every country has institutions that play a role, but sometimes it can be difficult to find them or know the best ones to contact. So here's a curated list, please suggest others that would be good to add 🤝 International Trade: 📌 Korea International Trade Association(KITA) (73,000 member companies, provides hands-on support to business, promoting private sector trade cooperation, formulating new trade strategies) 📌 KOTRA (state-funded trade and investment promotion organization, also located around the world) 📌 KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office, patent filing) Foreign Chambers of Commerce: 📌 British Chamber of Commerce in Korea 📌 European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK) 📌 AMCHAM Korea (American Chamber) 📌 AHK Korea (Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry) 📌 FKCCI French Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry Startups: 📌 KISED (Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development) 📌 OASIS Programme (Overall Assistance for Start-up Immigration System) I completed this in 2015 📌 K-Startup Grand Challenge (offers 40 startup teams and pre-entrepreneurs a 3.5-month residency in Korea) Investment agencies: 📌 Invest KOREA 📌 Invest Seoul 📌 Seoul Business Agency Exhibition Conference Centers: 📌 KINTEX (Located in Ilsan, international exhibition and convention center) 📌 Coex (Located in Gangnam, hosts major events) 📌 BEXCO (Located in Busan, hosts major events) Banking: 📌 Shinhan Bank (Global business support desk) 📌 Hana Bank (Considered best for non-Korean language service) 📌 Woori Bank (Major bank with English support) *Multinational banks are present in Korea but usually only commercial finance operations Korean Social Media: 📌 Kakao Talk (No1. Korean Messenger but also does wide range of other services, e.g. Kakao Taxi bigger than Uber) part of Kakao Corp 📌 NAVER Corp (Korea's "Google", still very relevant for business listings) English Language Media: 📌 The Korea Times 📌 중앙일보 JoongAng Ilbo 📌 The Korea Herald Many more topics could be covered I guess! What else is useful? Let me know in the comments. #korea #startup #global *Photo taken in 2023 by me, close to my office
