KTH Innovation’s Internationalisation Lead Viktor Olsson is spending the week in South Korea with SKERIC, Sweden Korea Education, Research, and Innovation Collaboration, a network of five Swedish and three Korean universities: Göteborgs universitet, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, Lunds universitet, Uppsala universitet, Umeå universitet, Korea University / 고려대학교, Pohang University of Science and Technology and Seoul National University. KTH Innovation is coordinating Work Package 3, which focused on research based startups and the exploration of collaborations and business opportunities as well as networking and field trips. All partner universities have startups participating in the program. From KTH, Burak Koyutürk represented Hydroyal, a green hydrogen startup. - I hope to see the startups building meaningful connections with people and organizations in South Korea, says Viktor Olsson. I hope this could lead to joint projects or business opportunities for the startups from both countries. I also hope to see a deeper understanding of the cultures and ecosystems of both countries. This is the first forum of three. There are two more coming up - one in 2025 and one in 2026. A warm thank you to our Korean colleagues for your hospitality and excellent organization.

In recent years, Europe 🌎 has emerged as a major hub for deep-tech innovation (UK 🇬🇧 tech start-ups alone have recently been valued at a combined £820bn, behind only the US 🇺🇸 and China 🇨🇳). However, Europe has historically struggled to commercialize 📈 its significant scientific and technological breakthroughs. To harness this potential, we need to recognise that Europe’s diversity is an asset 👏🏻, and that collaboration between nations, academia 👨🏫 and the private sector 🏢 can yield breakthroughs that none could achieve alone. One way to do this, could be to bridge innovation and investments in Europe with a greater number of scientists in VCs 👇👇

When Fondation Sophia Antipolis met last week with Taiwan’s dynamic startup ecosystem it was part of a strategic road map to facilitate startups from Sophia Antipolis looking to enter Asian markets and use Taiwan as a strategic entry point, leveraging its local expertise and connections. And similarly facilitate Taiwanese startups to tap into European markets through Sophia Antipolis. Taiwan startups ecosystem is a dynamic and growing landscape, characterized by strong governmental support, a skilled workforce, and strategic industry strengths. As the ecosystem continues to mature, Taiwan is well-positioned to become a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship Both regions can benefit from collaborative R&D projects, leveraging each other’s strengths in ICT, biotechnology, and environmental technologies. Partnerships between universities and research institutions can drive innovation. Establishing exchange programs where startups from Taiwan can spend time in Sophia Antipolis and vice versa can foster knowledge sharing, cultural exchange, and business development opportunities. Patricia Lay , head of Life sciences and Philippe MARIANI in charge of international relations at the Sophia Antipolis Foundation discussed these opportunities with a special delegation of startups led by Jeanne Roques , International project Manager at risingSUD . #innovation #sophiaantipolis #techpark #techforhumanity #risingsud Patricia Lay Philippe MARIANI Philippe Servetti Sylvain Rouget Valerie Gooris Jeanne Roques David LAURENT Anne charlotte DEBARBIEUX

The 🇯🇵 Japanese government will establish a "Global Startup Campus" in Tokyo, partnering with international 👨🎓 universities like MIT, to foster innovation and commercialization of advanced technologies. Announced by Prime Minister Kishida, this initiative aims to create a collaborative environment for researchers, business experts, and commercialization specialists. Japan needs this infrastructure to support startups, as the current system lacks adequate resources and advisory support. The campus will start with government funding but aims to become self-sustaining. ❓ Poland the next Silicon Valley❓🌏📌👇 During the Innovation Night at IDEAS NCBR in October, Alireza Shabani compared Poland to Silicon Valley, seeing great potential in our country. According to a former employee of Google, among others, what makes Poland likely to become a centre of technological development? 🌐 👉 Shabani pointed out the key success factors of Silicon Valley: concentration of capital, talent and experience. This combination of capital, talent, and experience lays a solid foundation for technological development and innovation. ➡️ Poland boasts a highly skilled workforce, with a strong emphasis on technical education. The country's universities and technical schools produce a steady stream of talented individuals, many of whom have gained valuable experience working for global tech companies or startups abroad before returning home. ➡️ Poland has made substantial strides in digitalization and infrastructure development, creating a conducive environment for technology-driven businesses to thrive. ➡️Poland benefits from a large internal market and is strategically located within Europe, providing access to a vast consumer base. This domestic market offers significant opportunities for startups and tech companies to test and scale their products before expanding internationally ➡️Poland has been experiencing steady growth in venture capital investment, particularly in recent years. This influx of capital is crucial for nurturing the growth of startups and innovative enterprises. I recommend developing this thread here: https://lnkd.in/dg5JXVTe The article in WBJ could delve deeper into specific success stories and case studies, highlighting exemplary Polish startups and initiatives that exemplify the country's potential as a technology hub. By showcasing these stories, the article can provide valuable insights into the strengths and opportunities within Poland's tech sector, inspiring further innovation and growth. ❓Is Poland on a track to become Europe's best technology hub? Or... are we already one❓ #softiqteam #innovation #techhub #technology #growth
