You want to prepare and be ready for everything, but are your children prepared if there is a disaster or emergency? In the event of an emergency, would your child/children know what to do? Start small with your kids, such as ensuring your child knows how and when to call 911, identify themselves, and provide their location. Also, familiarize them with emergency alerts explaining the sound of different sirens and what to do when your child hears each one.

Critical Steps to Take in Case of Fire: Stay Safe and Protect Lives Recent incidents, like the bus fire in Chemin Grenier, highlight the importance of knowing what to do in case of a fire. Follow these steps to ensure your safety: 1. Evacuate Immediately: Alert others as you exit and use the nearest safe exit. 2. Stay Low: Crawl on the ground to avoid inhaling toxic smoke and fumes. Cover your nose and mouth with a damp cloth if possible. 3. Close Doors Behind You: Shut doors as you leave to slow the spread of fire and smoke. 4. Call Emergency Services: Once you’re in a safe location, call 115 (Mauritius Fire and Rescue). 5. Never Re-enter: Do not go back into a burning building or vehicle, even if the fire seems to have been extinguished. Being prepared and acting quickly can save lives. Stay safe and share these crucial steps with others to help prevent tragedy.
