When you get the call from an old friend that they're in town, you pick it up! Monir Verma of Asian Tire Factory Ltd. | ATF Tyres was coming through San Antonio and was nice enough to grab dinner with me. I've known Monir for many years, he has helped me in business but also become a great friend. Even though we aren't in business together these days, we keep the friendship alive. Giti Tire’s GT Radial brand, a long-term fixture in the UK tyre market, continues to develop its Maxmiler van tyre range, according to exclusive distributor  Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS). It adds that new additions are due to arrive in 2025 to “ensure the range remains relevant and future-proof.” Tyres & Accessories asked MTS about how it is currently viewing the UK van tyre market, and for its tips on best practice for keeping light commercials moving. https://lnkd.in/ew3ivAUu

On 30 May, Cheng Shin Rubber released its 2023 annual report. In terms of sales, the tyre manufacturer’s sales in 2023 were all lower than the previous year. Among all categories of tyres, the sales of motorcycle tyres increased by 0.34 per cent year-on-year, which was flat. However, the sales volume of PCR, TBR, bicycle tyres, inner tubes and other tyre products all declined to varying degrees. The decline in PCR and TBR products was 12.92 per cent and 26.08 per cent. https://lnkd.in/ebnEAPuk

Sales within the segment nonetheless grew across Europe by 66 per cent between 2019 and 2023, and Dunlop is thus accompanying the recent launch of its All Season 2 with a campaign to highlight the various misconceptions that surround all-season tyres. https://lnkd.in/ey7P2h58

September has been a month of official openings. Specifically, Nokian Tyres opened its Romania tyre factory – something it has done in record time (see pages 14-16 for the details). And Linglong flipped the switch on passenger car tyre manufacturing at its Serbia plant too (see pages 18-19). At the same time, October’s magazine focuses on tyre wholesale (see page 44 onwards) and industrial tyres (from page 36).
